“Early recognition and management of breathlessness, especially in patients with unstable or deteriorating Phase of illness, should be a key focus of palliative care interventions.” Great work @assemmkhamis.bsky.social #EAPC2026
“Socio-economic inequalities shape end-of-life outcomes in advanced lung disease. People in the most deprived areas are more likely to die in hospital. This is seen across the social gradient but is most influenced by cause of death.” Great work by @donnawakefield.bsky.social at #EAPC2026

Building Critical Mass for Palliative Care Research | Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre
The world population is ageing and, with the growth of multi-morbidities, UK deaths are expected to increase by 40% by 2040. New models of care and treatments are urgently needed to improve quality of life for the significantly increased number of people living with life-limiting illnesses. Yet research activity remains extremely limited and neglected, with a severe lack of critical mass of academics and research centres to build the palliative care evidence base. www.hyms.ac.uk/wolfson

A major UK study led by @jonathankoffman.bsky.social reveals stark inequalities in end-of-life care: Cancer patients from minority ethnic backgrounds are significantly less likely to receive adequate opioid pain relief in their final months.Read more: www.hull.ac.uk/news-and-eve...
