if your government software looks like this, it will never break, never need replacement, and will work on every computer since we landed on the moon
This is not a joke. This is a screenshot of the actual case management software used by Massachusetts' 11 District Attorneys. Must-read work here by @nasser.wiki nasser.blog/dial-up-just...

the "unprompted autonomous AI hacking behavior" is so obviously a psyop to stoke investors that i think you have to be really stupid to fall for it
NECRON 99/PEACE! Original artwork from WIZARDS (1977) has just been added to the shop: ebay.us/m/lSvRRG
Regular Reminder: The Guardian is in a commercial relationship with OpenAI.
Well this turns out to be misleading! The LLM was used to rewrite human-written stories in commercial registers ("literary magazine", "published short story collection"). You'd have to read supplemental materials from a zip fle to know that was the methodology. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
Grading culture is a symptom of something very rotten in the modern consumer economy. There's been a sort of double-move where the once-niche economy of collecting culture has expanded to swallow up more and more while collecting culture itself has kind of evaporated.
Why? Why must everything we enjoy be sealed up with a "grade"? I get baseball cards being put in plastic because you can still enjoy both sides of the card. But a Blu-ray?
Being an anime fan is an exercise in starvation by degrees: Pre-streaming era: You wanna own anime? Eh, you’ll like whatever escapes from us. Streaming era: You wanna own anime? You must wait 3 years before you can buy anything physical. Post-Sony buys everything era: You wanna own anime?
Friends, #weebwednesday is upon us once again! You know the drill - quote-post with your weebiest hot takes, nothing racist, nothing intentionally inflammatory, have fun with it ♥
While the SCREEN Act failed in the committee, KOSA did move forward. Contact your senators immediately demanding it be opposed, and keep the pressure up until it comes to a vote in the Senate
The Senate Commerce Committee just passed KOSA out of committee with zero debate & failed to move the SCREEN Act. punchbowl.news/article/tech...
*nintendo direct announcer voice* looks like you weren't expecting such a hungry girl!

SCREEN Act, which would have required mandatory age-verification for sites (like this) that allow "material harmful to minors" failed to pass out of committee after thousands and thousands of people called their Senators. More work ahead!
The SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.
“Nuh uh Walter’s a super genius.” He would have failed the moment Colombo strolled up in his beat up Peugeot and asked him for a pen to write notes down on Burger King napkins.
I’m just saying, Angela Lansbury would have found out Walter White in the first season. Walter White wouldn’t have lasted an entire Colombo episode.
hey, uh, i heard you picking up all the health and ammo i keep just outside my big room. is there something we need to talk about, or
idk how to explain it but getting mad at energy guns being present in action games and having to go out of your way to glaze a game's "real" ballistic guns over them is a fascist red flag
There are some parts of Wikipedia where sourcing standards are just... bad. Specifically those are the parts about contemporary media. Movies, TV, cartoons, and music articles on Wikipedia are barely above the fanwiki level a lot of times and
