i understand and respect most critiques from homeric scholars on nolan’s odyssey but in my opinion, most are approaching the film from their perspective of transcription/translation — not adaptation, which is something none of them have experience in.
all this has revealed to me is that wilson is not a cinephile, or even a film critic. most of her critiques stem from having interpreted the film in a very literal way. i shudder to think what she would have to say about something like lost highway or mulholland drive

seeing people hate on star trek the incorrect way is soooo irritating. there are certainly things to criticize about nutrek but some of you don’t even get old trek so why should i give a fuck what you’re chatting about
not sure what’s more idiotic: the fact weir thinks there can be stories devoid of political/social commentary (incorrect! not true!) or the fact that he thinks “not having a point to make” makes for an entertaining read.
