If you are at #ECVP2026 drop by my poster this afternoon on categorical storage of visual working memory content. TLDR: humans are lazy. Memorizing color category instead of hue reduces memory load. Thus, recall is biased toward category prototypes, especially when attentional resources are low.

We show that numerosity adaptation (a seemingly high-level stim property) suppresses neural responses in early visual cortex; these adaptation FX increase as we progress thru the visual processing hierarchy.
