Biodiversity, community & kindness are real wealth. Economic growth is a suicide pact. Seeking humour while forever opposing disinformation, hate & ecocide.

While a cyclospora explosive diarrhea outbreak is repeatedly linked with a 20% cut to US CDC & food inspection staff, it's wild how many LPC apologists casually dismiss Carney cuts to wildfire monitoring & food inspection with a derisive "of course the unions complain about increasing efficiency."

"Pathways is a non-binding pledge that enables expanded oil production, higher greenhouse gas emissions and billions in public subsidies for pipelines and carbon-capture infrastructure — This is not climate policy; it is greenwashing dressed up as national strategy."

Pathways is a costly climate fiction — and Canadians are paying for it

The 2025 Alberta–Carney agreement explicitly links pipeline construction to the Pathways project. Despite record profits — $37 billion for oilsands producers in 2023 — Canadians are being asked to fin...

"Healthcare is provincial, not federal." 1. The Canada Health Act is federal law. 2. The Canada Health Transfer is the single largest transfer of federal funds to the provinces. 3. Health is a responsibility shared between federal and provincial jurisdictions. 🔗s below.

30 universities colluded with cops & a UCP official to violently suppress constitutionally protected anti-genocide free expression on campuses and as soon as journalists began asking questions they started deleting the evidence. This rights-suppressing genocide support is too deplorable for words.

Carney "priorities." Ordinarily I'd take an hour to assemble a long string of links about every single thing this graphic says, which Carney supporters would simply dismiss anyway. This time I'll just put this out there share those depressing links when asked. But fuck this guy & his arson.

Image of Mark Carney with text.

On his left, it reads: Carney has cut health care transfers, dental & pharmacare, food inspectors, wildfire monitoring, diplomacy, fisheries & oceans, public works, chief electoral officer, environment and climate change Canada, air transport security, Via rail, CBC, & more.

On his right, it reads: It's a higher priority to him to give fossil fuels tens of billions of taxpayer dollars in gifts & subsidies even though fossil fuels have averaged >$3 billion per day in net profits for more than 50 years and absolutely doesn't need public handouts on top.

"We're not trying to appease separatists with this globally irresponsible climate arson. We just want to doom all of humanity to millennia of a brutal hothouse hellscape of violent scarcity entirely on its own merits because it's what we independently value!" isn't quite the defence he thinks it is.

The US State Department recently presented an AI-created map of Africa with every country wrong. Mark Carney is racing to embed AI tech, which cannot even reliably tell which country is which, deep into every aspect of what the Canadian federal government does with no effective guardrails.

Eric Geller@ericjgeller.com · 6d ago

"A US government map of Africa mislabeled every country during a state department presentation at a global conference in Brazil this week, causing a stir among attenders who took screenshots and posted them online."

LNG Canada’s original plans for its Kitimat, B.C, plant included a commitment to operate "without routine flaring." That commitment was later removed from submissions to the BC Energy Regulator, and in 2025, almost 10 per cent of all gas transported to the terminal was burned off.

For years, LNG Canada made environmental commitments in documents submitted to BC Energy Regulator (BCER). It removed them before the Kitimat facility launched

Whenever I say that I don't want Mark Carney to harm the environment or attack human rights or kowtow to tech billionaires, a whole bunch of his supporters show up to 1. insult me, 2. accuse me of being a conservative supporter, and 3. nothing else. There is no third thing. 1/

On the left side of this graphic, the Conservative Party of Canada logo on a blue background. Text at the top reads "Poilievre voters:" Word bubbles emerging from the logo read "Anyone I dislike or who criticizes our policies is a stupid communist."

On the left side, we see the Liberal Party of Canada logo on a red background. Text at the top reads "Carney voters:" Word bubbles emerging from the logo read "Anyone I dislike or who criticizes our policies is a stupid Poilievre voter."

A black bar across the bottom of the graphic contains the words "Fun fact: Their policies are mostly the same."

"Because Trump" or the more euphemistic "because the world has changed" is the favourite thought-terminating cliché of Carney supporters. Offer any evidence-based criticism of any Carney policy & you will hear that these unusually dangerous times require it. But he's making us *more* vulnerable. 🧵1/

An image of deplorable Canadian prime minister Mark Carney, with disheartening but all-too-sadly-true text:

Mark Carney isn't protecting Canada from Donald Trump. He's making us more vulnerable to Trump. His policies increasingly emulate Trump's.

Killing the carbon tax that he praised so much in his book is pure Carney: ✅ ecocidal ✅ a giant gift to the worst polluters ✅ a brutal body blow to the poorest and most vulnerable Canadians ✅ the opposite of the climate leadership he primed voters to expect pre-election shrlnk.ca/s/H1Iuvk9I

To this PM, big oil matters, and your health very much does not. This colossal cut to health care will almost cover a new publicly funded pipeline & expanding fossil fuel infrastructure on a west coast port. Handouts to climate non-solution CCS will require further cuts. shrlnk.ca/s/7SgMK3Vs

Planned changes to Ottawa’s Canada Health Transfer could slash more than $50B from public health care over a decade

The more I think about Max Fawcett gaslighting the country that "Mark Carney wants to make Canada more like Norway," the angrier I get at this particular bit of overtly partisan pure propaganda journalistic malpractice. Carney's policies are all about making Canada less like Norway in every way. 1/

We didn't stop producing asbestos because there wasn't a market for asbestos. We stopped producing asbestos because asbestos kills people and killing people is wrong. Fossil fuels kill people. Killing people is wrong.

Only one fifth of burned forest areas over the last 4 decades were ever actively managed. You cannot have a "fuel-buildup from forest mismanagement" in vast areas of forest that *you were never managing to begin with.* Shut down this climate denier lie. www.theclimatebrink.com/p/canadas-bo...

Canada's boreal wildfires aren't just bad forest management

Higher fire season temperatures are strongly correlated with increased area burned

If Carney was even half as smart as his acolytes keep insisting he is, he'd be able to read the room, or the country, about how today's hardcore climate impacts are hammering us. His silence on it is deafening. If he were a tenth as smart as they claim, he wouldn't be expanding fossil fuels.

An image of Canadian prime minister Mark Carney.

Behind him on the left there is black text on a white background which reads The PM's not expected to comment on US senators, but he went out of his way to lie that Lindsey Graham, a bigoted fascist-enabling warmonger, was a "steadfast defender of democracy & freedom"

Behind him on the right there is white text on a black background which reads: The PM IS expected to respond to major domestic issues, but he hasn't said a single thing yet about brutal heatwaves and choking wildfire smoke from coast to coast as the climate crisis hits hard. Instead, he bragged about further fossil fuel expansion to make it worse

Stop pretending that only one party is responsible for making us more vulnerable to wildfire risks. The escalating danger we are in is a multi-party effort. NONE of Canada's major political parties has thus far taken this increasing risk seriously. 🧵 1/

In the top left corner, an image of Ontario premier Doug Ford, with overlying text: "Cut wildfire response budget while pushing fossil fuel expansion"

In the top right corner, Alberta premier Denielle Smith, with overlying text: "Cut wildfire response budget while pushing fossil fuel expansion"

In the bottom left, former Alberta premier Rachel Notley, with overlying text: "Cut wildfire response budget while pushing fossil fuel expansion"

In the bottom right, prime minister Mark Carney, with overlying text: "Cut wildfire tracking budget, cut budget for Environment and Climate Change Canada by 45.4% while pushing fossil fuel expansion"

This isn't funny trolling, and we're not laughing. This is the leader of the most powerful nation on earth reposting an image that threatens Canada and Greenland with annexation, a crime under international law, explicitly prohibited by the UN Charter.

Every time Canada makes a concession to be reasonable with the United States, Washington sees it as weakness. And they want more. This is Trump's message to the world after the deal on the Gordie Howe Bridge. Their threat to Canada remains serious.

What's most awful about the Carney era is the way LPC partisans are now convinced that simply saying the word "pragmatism" means that Maple MAGA's worst unethical policies are actually great leadership now, as long as they get served up by someone with the colour red on their campaign signs. 1/

Canadian prime minister Mark Carney shakes hands with Pierre Poilievre, the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

The image is overlaid with text which reads "If Poilievre won the election, Canada would be getting mostly the same anti-rights climate arson pro-corporate-oligarch policies. The biggest difference would be that LPC die hards would be pushing back against them instead of cheering for them."
