Yesterday, while the AI Coding Geniuses of Tomorrow were burning their tokens creating Ultimate Slop Dungeon VII or whatnot, I implemented support for HTTP byte ranges in my toy web app project so seeking around in videos was faster, which was very satisfying, including fixing a dumb off-by-one bug.

It's a small thing, I know, but there really is a difference between "palate cleanser" and "palette cleanser," and also, while we are on the subject, "pallet cleanser," and it is worth making the distinction

LLMs tools are generally tuned to have the interpersonal manner of the babysitter who lets you win at card games every time because they want you to profess a preference for them particularly in order to get your parents to send them repeat business.

Okay, I dump on bsky a fair bit... I mean *still* no edit feature, etc, etc... but today I uploaded a video and they now let you upload soft subtitles (vtt format), which is an awesome feature that I wish Mastodon/Fedi (and other platforms that let you share video) would adopt!

We released The Incident at Galley House a week ago, and it's been a wild ride: * Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam in 48 hours * We recouped our entire development budget * At peak, 2500 people were playing at the same time!! Thanks to all the detectives out there for making it a big success.

Glanced at LinkedIn tonight (always a mistake) and saw a post from some asshole I've never heard of quoting some other asshole I've never heard of (and citing him as some industry luminary) saying that the only way to maximize productivity in the new "AI" coding world is *never* reading the code.

if you are making an rpg you should put a button in the menu that makes the characters talk about what theyre supposed to be doing so when someone stops playing for 2 weeks they don't have to quit forever. you can hide jokes in there too like if someone pushes it in a hallway with only one exit
