Every Sydney Station

@sydneystations.bsky.social

A personal nerdy project to document the look and feel of every station on Sydney Trains, Intercity, Metro & Ferries. A look at urban environments in and around Sydney. Also other transit & urban things. Just some nerd.

Good to see that the public realm at Victoria Cross is finished and some of the tenants opening up. But I'm shocked there isn't a pedestrian crossing at the station entrance. That's unusual at any station across Sydney, let alone one this busy.

There's an interesting tension here. Offices are very sensitive to location, and are often demolished after a few decades. Residential is not as sensitive, and tends to stick around way longer. I can see why Council want to preserve space for offices, but at what cost?

📢 Parramatta’s mayor wants the city to be reserved for jobs. Others want to maximise housing. Who wins?

What a stupid waste of money. $160m to provide one train's worth of capacity. There'll still be no spaces past 7am. I was hoping NSW had moved past this, but so many people are being sold on living in sprawl and driving to metro. And the govt pretends it'll work. www.smh.com.au/national/nsw...

Some recent news on some tall ones across Sydney - the 82 storey "Castlereagh Place" twin tower development was approved. A mixed hotel and apartment building, it'll feature a 'public' square in the middle of the site and multiple through-site lane-ways lined with retail, dining and event spaces.

HELENSBURGH, 46km from Central, is a quiet old station on the South Coast Line, serving low-density suburbia and surrounded by native forests. It has two platforms in a cutting, accessed from a newer pedestrian bridge, with glass lifts contrasting with the heritage brick station building. (1/3)

A new piece of info from this week's tour is Westmead probably won't get the promised underground interchange. It might not get any interchange at all. The below story from last year wasn't just about art, it seems to be about significant downgrades www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06...

'Don't cheapen Western Sydney': Advocacy groups slam Metro stations budget

Western Sydney advocates express concern over budgeting for Metro West after the government signalled it would like to spend $300 million less per station than in the CBD.

WESTMEAD Metro site tour! The station box is HUGE, photos don't do it justice. There's tunnel stubs on the west side, about 100m of spare tunnel that won't get used. If they ever extend the line west, they can break into them without closing the line. (1/3)
