Currently asking friends for feedback on WIP music for Solaire and I'm having to preface my strange instrument choices with the fact the brief I gave myself was "Battle bgm for when Queen Elizabeth comes back from the dead and oh no she's got a gun!!!!" Game dev is awesome
The main design goal of Solaire has shifted in the last few months from "make cool rpg with fun gameplay mechanics that add depth" to "use that to engineer as many scenarios for funny faces as possible" and like I hope there'll be like one or two that people other than me find really funny.
Solaire broke 30,000 wishlists over the weekend. I don't know where people are still coming from, but I am glad people are excited for the game! Thank you all so much! I'm working hard on getting the demo out soon :)

I think above all else I'm really glad people seem to like (or at least not dislike enough to say anything) the music in Solaire's trailer because composing is by far the thing I find most challenging. I only really started doing it this year.

William Davis@willdavis.bsky.social · 2w agoWhen another indie dev says they got 10s of thousands of wishlists that's not them bragging. That's them being stunned that they found a measure of success and can celebrate. When I say I got 800 wishlists, that's bragging. This is the most wishlisted game I've ever worked on.

The comments on all the coverage of Solaire has almost unanimously been really positive but I just saw someone call it "womanslop" and now I just really want to end up on that "woke games" steam list.
