Some folks will claim that this is hyperbolic, but what I wish people would understand is that tech initiatives like this serve as a means of eroding consent and lower the barrier for the persistent capture of people’s image, voice, data, or whatever else a gadget can glean.

Today, we filed a FOIA request with DHS concerning an AI-generated image the @DHSgov X account posted this morning. The image depicts a Transformer facing a South Asian man, over a caption telling "Mr. Singh" to self-deport and get off American roads. We want the prompt.

Also, people with chronic illness and disability usually have to jump through hoops to ensure they get necessary accommodations for voting and, despite those administrative hurdles, they do vote because they understand how important voting is. It is a luxury, a privilege, not to care about voting.
