30, he/him Nerd culture enthusiast, I probably have too many thoughts about games.

I've been mulling over this for a while to try and get my thoughts together. I wasn't sure whether I should share this, but I really feel like I need to get this off my chest and spread awareness. Thanks to those who take the time to listen, I'll elaborate further in a comment below too.

Finally got the chance to play Splatoon Raiders multiplayer with @webbyc.bsky.social and man, this game continues to bang so hard. The way it scales so you can play with anyone regardless of level, experience the same difficulty and still make meaningful progress is so good.

Finally got around to watching Project Hail Mary. I knew pretty much nothing about it going into it, other than seeing lots of people say its really good. And would you believe it, they were right!

I'm not really big on celebrating my birthday. But it's a good opportunity to reflect. And also, I'm a sucker for easy blog content. So, for the third straight year, here are the things I learned from video games this year. Featuring: the power of friendship?? bignerdgaming.com/2026/07/29/t...

The Biggest Things I Learned Through Video Games at Age 37

Welcome to one of my favorite posts that I write here at BigNerdGaming. I’m actually not very big on my birthday. I’m someone who prefers to stay mostly under the radar on this day, but…

Damn you Square Enix and your hold over me, making me wake up early on a weekend to catch FFXIV EU Fanfest live 😤 Very excited to see more of Evercold though, NA Fanfest felt like it reignited a spark that had been missing for a while 😌

Splatoon Raiders is a lot of fun so far 🦑 Every single mission makes you feel like you're progressing one way or another power-wise. Combat is solid, tons of weapon and gear variety and it becomes really hectic (in a good way) when they start mixing multiple enemy types in larger volumes!

If you have yet to play the original Metal Gear Solid then it's currently available to play for free on Steam until Monday. It's a short game (around 12 hours) so this is plenty of time to do a first playthrough of one of the most important games ever made, for free!

Wrapped up my replay of Xenoblade Chronicles DE 😎 It remains my least favourite of the trilogy but I still love it, and actually enjoyed this playthrough a fair bit more than my first. Ether jet in the Switch 2 version also helps shorten a lot of empty travel time, a surprisingly nice addition!

Now that the weather has cooled down a bit and it's somewhat tolerable to sit next to a PC, it's finally time to sail the high seas ☠️

Morning Bsky 😄 I've been more absent than usual the past few weeks just due to life lifing, but hoping that'll turn around soon. Feeling like a bit of a zombie this morning after getting up at 4am and not really being able to sleep again, but I was able to frantically buy a TGS ticket at least 🥲

Every time I step aboard the Jackdaw and take the helm, I feel a genuine sense of anticipation. An endless stretch of ocean lies ahead, and I know I could stumble upon any number of unpredictable adventures. Black Flag still has one of gaming's greatest open worlds and strongest senses of freedom.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag rewards curiosity, makes exploration worthwhile, and proves why freedom is more than just a massive open world.

You ever find yourself playing a Switch 2 version from 2026 of a remaster from 2020 based on a game from 2010 and have to stop for a minute to just marvel at what you're seeing? I love Xenoblade.

I love the utterly anime-ass, over the top spectacle that happens when you unleash a chain SBA in Granblue. Just an explosion of colour and numbers. So damn satisfying every time. Also surprise @chaoseater.bsky.social appearance as his AI character carries me through the early postgame 😎

There are probably 25-30 games I'm interested in for the second half of 2026. But I had some discipline, and limited this list to games that I'm pretty confident I will be buying day one no matter what. Here are my 14 most anticipated games for the rest of 2026. bignerdgaming.com/2026/07/01/m...

My 14 Most Anticipated Games For The Rest Of 2026

There just hasn’t been something quite right with gaming in 2026. It seems like every week we are hit with some new terrible news. Many people are concerned for the future of this medium in a…

I've been in fairly bad, constant pain for around 3 weeks now, waiting to be referred to a specialist to help resolve it. The good news: they were in touch to move the process along today! The bad news: estimated wait time for me to be seen to is 32 weeks 💀
