Roleplaying is more fun and often much easier when your character has some real meat on the bone. A broken oath, wrongful exiled, amnesia and/or hyperacusis. Whatever it is those details create hooks, flaws, and choices that make the character feel uniquely yours. #TTRPG

GM Tip: Players often want to make highly competent characters and don't think to put conflict into their backstories. But conflict is great for making good stories! Ask the players to come up with at least one messy part of their past that can be mined for ideas in the campaign. #ttrpg #dnd #rpg

So my wife just showed me this that she kept - it's a map I drew for our lad when he was 6, and we were playing storytelling games at home. A good full year before I decided to try and learn to draw. Maybe this is where it started 🙂

You know what's wild? I moved from the videogames industry to the TTRPG industry around 10 years ago. So many folk said I was making a bad career move. That there's no money or security in traditional games. I'd regret it. Years later and most of them have laid off more times than I can count. :/
