Anything that's important should be repeated often. If it's a theme hammer it. If it's an organization have lots of related NPCs, friends and foes, if it's a spell, have items and countermeasures for it. Reputation reinforces and foreshadows what's important to the setting.

I'm going to be real... Anything that's not temperate plains, temperate forest, and temperate mountains is underused in my opinion. I'm so tired of western European landscapes UUUUGGGGHHHHH do something else pleeaaaaaase

I live near the Great Lakes and I find that most fantasy settings have large oceans, but very few large freshwater lakes. I love this region for unique temperate environments, lake marshes, sand dunes, and massive rock formations formed by a glacier thousands of years ago.

Cold water. In basically anything for a ttrpg that I've seen involving water, it's all a tropical, pirate pastiche. I've never seen "water that's so cold it'll kill you in a minute" in a sourcebook or splat, yet this is a very real thing that some sailors deal with daily.

Honestly not sure? I've been having fun with making up unique biomes and natural features for Apothecaria. Here's a few: -A fenn with rolling hills and mountains made of rich clay -A foresty canyon with waterfalls cascading down every side and a massive tree suspended in the middle.

I agree with deserts, but was going for Salt planes! A bizzare biome which goes from not even bacteria living there, to vibrant wetland areas full of life. They also capture a surrealness in the game as the players aren't always familiar with them

YES! This was gonna be my exact answer!! Deserts have fascinating animals, interesting plant life, and sometimes strange landscapes. Not to mention the cultures that can emerge from lifing in such a unique environment. It forces wild adaptations from all lifes.

there's plenty of restaurants in this town, but the owner of the sandwich shop downtown hates me, says he's gonna kill me, and has a sign up on the wall saying that 5 cents out of every sandwich order will go towards buying bullets to shoot me with.
