Back home after a long day at the Eisteddfod. Amazing event. 10/10 would go again. It is kind of like Worldcon, but for all literature, and in a field & tents. Programming is in Welsh with some English translation, and it is combined with a rock festival.

No idea how many of the Booker long list I’ll get through, depends on how many Wrexham library get (Conwy library seems to buy them all!) before the winner is announced. But the Strout is out-fuckin-standing, the winner had better be good if it’s not this.
There’s a lot of “we had nowt to eat but coal” flying around about Wrexham women at Rhos & training grounds. As if the club hasn’t just built a cabin at Colliers & taken part in the asset strip of the Rock to solve these issues. Anyone actually heard of Blaine Hudson being hit by a golf ball? 🤣
Nice evening out to see Ardal Leagues start. Queen’s Park v Corwen happened at Lex for some reason, good job I checked where it was, and despite a sticky start and a few frayed tempers, QP won 6-2. I’ve wanted to see them test themselves at this level for a bit, and you can’t knock that score.
SGÔR GWAETHAF ERIOED YN CWIS BOB DYDD! Cwestiynau hollol random heddiw…
Hey, American Wrexham fans. This is my annual post to say that I really do like your baseball, albeit I haven’t backed this up by paying for the channel that most of it is on in the UK. But the weekly BBC game to the end of the season is pretty sweet.
It’s a long story, but I can’t let it pass without mentioning that I saw someone wearing an England rugby shirt get hit by a fucking egg today. An actual egg, that he had to wipe off with a tea towel. Don’t let it be said that there’s no joy out there.
A hard game to predict on paper. Less so in reality where Brickfield smashed the division’s new boys to bits 5-1. If you could have gone and you didn’t, well you missed out. Wales’ most fun league is go, and a Wrexham team is top - 29 games to go though 🤣
Spread the word around. You may even see me there - I have to pay though #wxmafc
We need them back to right the wrong of when I went to a boys’ school - every bit as fun as you imagine - and nobody would admit to liking an indie band full of women. Although I obviously had, and loved, this album without telling anyone. We couldn’t blame the manosphere back then either.
One of the era-defining groups of the '90s have made an announcement and fans are getting very, very excited
Congratulations to Celtic on winning your 15th title in 16 seasons.
🏴🆕 Rangers draw at Dundee United in the opening game of the 2026/27 season in the Scottish Premiership. Norwegian World Cup goalscorer Thelo Aasgaard got the equaliser.
The wild thing about the World Cup nonsense is that everyone understands that private companies would take out more than they put in. Now translate that to power, water and every other public service….
For those who have the Cymru Football app, I recommend searching for Harry Ashfield on that, where they uploaded a picture of him aged about 14 and haven't changed it.
There’s almost no trace left of “boy” on Harry Ashfield’s face. He must’ve had a jaw-squaring growth spurt #askwxm
You sort of have to laugh at the fact that, post-announcement of moving to 3 & the clear indication of it being decided on a geographical basis, that any journo asking if it would end up being Scarlets v Ospreys was given a faux-coy "well, actually..." rather than just admit that was the intention.
The Welsh Rugby Union has confirmed the process for reducing the number of men’s professional teams from four to three will begin later this year, setting up a battle between the Ospreys and Scarlets for the final licence in west Wales
Fair play, you’d have never guessed that he was a coke head by looking at him.
Ebbw Vale football club chairman stole £22k to fund cocaine habit
*Nods* I mean, the whole thing's "you pretend it's a community project instead of a global media and business one, and we'll pretend to believe you" I suppose. It pays for everything, everyone's having a nice time, but you have to take the storytelling of it with a pinch of salt #wxmafc
I'm not particularly fussed about the look of our kits, but I don't feel the launch at Nasdaq has anything to do with the working class and community history of the club. What's the point of our CEO wearing the new kit over a white shirt, just take the shirt off for the duration of the launch. #wxm
Re: women’s team yesterday. I put the time in with #wxmafc for 25 years before local football got more of a cut. Was fortunate enough to see most things; winning trophies at Wembley & Millennium, cup giantkillings, promotion, beating the teams we don’t like on their ground. But missed out on Europe.
Also, if you are linguistically challenged, but want to read about the under 19 Euros, #wxmafc women in the Champions League, Cymru Premier clubs in Europe and their new league format, in a language I speak a bit better 🤣 I’m trying to keep English stuff at open.substack.com/pub/taithpel...

Well, what a night. Ten tricky minutes to start, but an absolutely storming response. If you could have done and you didn’t, it’s time to say that I don’t know what you want. Dare we believe Saturday could be even better? #wxmafc
Remembering the harmless people I affected to believe were the worst in the world, in the recent past, and flinching. Cereal cafes, fire jugglers, baristas who said 'buddy', etc. A time of privilege, when the bigger battles seemed decisively won. And now the ACTUAL worst people are in the ascendant.
WHAT? He’s actually appointed the living representation of “I support England at the major tournaments when Wales aren’t there…but NEVER in the rugby”.
Stephen Kinnock has been appointed Secretary of State for Wales as Prime Minister Andy Burnham completed his first Cabinet reshuffle, replacing Jo Stevens after two years in the role
Lads - no further Welsh-Argentina love ins at future tournaments, it degrades us as a nation.
Messi playing in this team is like Bowie in Tin Machine.
This is why, no matter how high stakes or high level the game is, football tickets should always be cheap because it is the leisure option which is least likely to guarantee to be entertaining. Imagine if the Stones charged what they charge and didn’t play Satisfaction.
This is the most football I've ever watched
I can get behind a half time show if the Muppets are involved.
'Something Like Magic, Something Like Death' I wrote a review of Thirst: Twelve Drinks That Changed My Life, the extraordinary memoir by John Robins, for @thequietus.com. A highly thought-provoking book about alcoholism (and more) which is somehow also very funny... thequietus.com/culture/book...
