Post trip report: - Milwaukee rocks and the Brewers won - the Hank Aaron trail is functional and postindustrial urban corridor feel - Bublr was great! tho, the station is farther from stadium than it should be and our group snagged the last bikes, so they could use more!
Visiting Milwaukee later this summer and staying downtown w/o car. Is Bublr #BikeShare a viable way to get to a daytime #Brewers game? via Hank Aaron Trail presumably? Any tips?
A driver wanted to be sketchy last night but I diffused the danger with good riding technique & made a video about to help teach others. Drivers 🚗: don't make stupid passes! Bikers 🚲 🏍️: be visible, position yourself correctly in the lane, signal, and check your shoulder. #BikeSky
Elon Musk has bought a gas turbine company to bring even more pollution to a poor Memphis neighborhood, all so Grok can churn out porn, CSAM, and Nazi propaganda.
The combination of Trump’s second presidency and AI has been a mask off moment for billionaires. Elon Musk who once proposed a master plan to eliminate fossil fuels is now a massive polluter given his usage of gas turbines to power SpaceXAI’s data centers.
Can’t recommend enough to climate and Wx folks to ride bikes! It is a great way to directly experience the phenomena we are interested in! 🌧️ ⚡️ 💨
Whoa, over a quarter million people (so far!) have left a comment on the egrgious openly fascist takeover attempt of the OMB. You can too! @standupforscience.net has instructions and everything you need. It's not hard, and it's critically important to science. fight2win.standupforscience.net

Did you write your comment yet on the OMB rules on federally funded science yet? No? Don’t worry, you can do it this weekend. Here are some resources that can help you get started.
This sucks but also Cyclospora would have been such a great name for a big bike ride or open streets event. #BikeSky
The demand for tests for cyclosporiasis, a pathogen often caused by contaminated fresh produce, is so intense, with so many patients seeking help for diarrhea and crippling abdominal cramps, that many labs can’t keep up.
Shade is nice, but too often in our area, trees in close proximity to bike paths quickly result in massive damage to pavement rendering them uncomfortable and potentially dangerous/unridable above ~5 mph. Perhaps better engineering and silvicultural knowledge could avoid?
It sounds silly and obvious, but I'm always struck by how much shade makes a difference when biking on a hot day. It's so much cooler and I'll actively seek out more shaded routes. It's a good reminder that infrastructure planning should take shade into account as it's a huge motivator for riders.
I started working in extreme heat impacts looking at bird populations in the late 2000s. Did a ton of lit searches and results mostly about poultry death and how to avoid it.
Heat kills chickens. So you need more farmland to grow more feed for more chickens. So you cut down more trees and make more heat. Which makes it harder to grow feed so you need more farmland. So you cut down more trees which makes more heat and kills more chickens… www.nytimes.com/2026/07/06/c...

Having a great time & learning a lot at American Association of State Climatologists meeting in Fairbanks, AK. Anyone part of AASC? Or just generally interested? Let's connect! #AASC #ClimateSky @climatologist49.bsky.social [photo: Eric Marshall U Alaska Fairbanks]
This and jacking up the price of oil.
Algae are prolific producers of oxygen (and consumers of carbon dioxide), en masse producing a huge proportion of the oxygen we breathe, which means that the greening of the Reflecting Pool might be the most pro-climate thing Trump has ever done.
Great thread on some issues of current French heat wave
Pourquoi ne pas réquisitionner les parcs ? La canicule est face à nous et à défaut d’une prise en compte politique du sujet en avance, il va encore falloir improviser dans l’urgence. UN FIL 1/11

Generally like this place but dang this does not seem to be a place that is useful at all for early election return and election takes. At least for #NevadaElection results.
Anyway, the best thing about speaking French might be getting to say “hop là!”
Will someone please tell me when they do this for album names because my answer will be: “Abbey Stroad”
