It may be true that Hollywood's companies themselves don't discriminate or have bias towards animation. But the general audience, and more specifically their wallets, sure do. The general sentiment seems to be "If it's not live-action, gritty and bloody, then it's for kids."

Illumination founder Chris Meledandri says he doesn’t believe Hollywood is biased against animation: “We’ve evolved to a point where a lot of those unstated biases have broken down. There’s a collective appreciation now for the artistry that goes into an animated film.”
