It may be true that Hollywood's companies themselves don't discriminate or have bias towards animation. But the general audience, and more specifically their wallets, sure do. The general sentiment seems to be "If it's not live-action, gritty and bloody, then it's for kids."

There’s a collective appreciation now for the artistry that goes into an animated film.”
