The #UK and global partners have announced #ban on goods from #illegal Israeli settlements. Taking action against ethnic cleansing in #WestBank committed by settler terrorists is not only the right thing to do, but keeps hope of #TwoStateSolution alive. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/s...

Took a walk on the wild side of #Slough with Thames Hospice! They’ve cleverly raised awareness around our town about their vital #hospice service, so please do see for yourself how the trunks across the Thames sculptures celebrate the very best of our #community.
It’s imperative to properly #invest in our #ArmedForces, as explained before by the current Chancellor. Our #European allies have accelerated their #defence spending and, as a nation, rather than be sorry later, we must recognise the #threats and take action now.
A joy to join our local #Hindu community again at #Slough Mandir for the beautiful vibrant #Janmashtami celebrations marking the birth of Lord Krishna. #HappyJanmashtami everyone.🎉
“We need to wake up.” After an incendiary intervention at #PMQs yesterday, @labouruk.bsky.social Defence Select Committee Chair @tandhesi.bsky.social has warned that the UK risks falling behind its allies on defence spending, as he presses the Government to set out when it will reach 3% of GDP. 1/3
With rising #threats from adversaries and a weakened focus on #European #defence from the #DonaldTrump administration, our #government must step up to properly #invest now in our #ArmedForces … and being timely will also ensure value for money for the #British taxpayer.
Given the significantly raised #threat level, now is not the time for dither or delay. The nation, and its government in particular, needs to understand the criticality of #investing in our #ArmedForces now, with clarity on pathway to reach 3% of GDP spend on #defence by 2030.
The nation should be under no illusion that we face a significantly higher #threat level, so rather than be sorry later, #PrimeMinister we must properly #invest in our #defence now.
As our recent #Defence Committee report on the #Afghan #DataBreach shows, the breach went undetected for over a year and then further secrecy for way too long; meaning no scrutiny for actions! #Government must reflect on the lessons to be learnt to ensure it never happens again.
I spoke with Leena Bector’s husband to express my deep concern as she remains missing in Nepal and to provide help. Mrs Bector’s family have asked me to convey that media outlets kindly stop contacting them and her workplace, and their privacy be respected at this trying time.
Devastating news about the hundreds who’ve sadly perished in #Nepal and #Tibet, and hundreds still missing, including at least one Slough resident among the missing Brits. My thoughts and prayers with all affected and those involved in rescue efforts.🙏🏼 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Pleasure for our #Defence Committee to recently attend the #Farnborough International Airshow. With aerial superiority and unmanned drones driving the future of defence, was good to get a sneak peek of @baesystems.com futuristic #Brontanax aircraft!
I think that Tuchel missed a trick not calling me up for the #WorldCup, but I've been practicing...#Euro2028 here I come! ⚽🏴
Ministry of Defence failed at a critical moment when the #Afghan #DataBreach occurred and subsequent secrecy made it even worse, as our #Defence Committee report shows. #Government must now explain how it’s going to keep promises to those who helped us. www.ft.com/content/f8d3...
Congratulations to students in #Slough and across the country receiving their #GCSE results! Your hard work and #resilience, and the dedication of teachers and parents have helped you reach this important milestone. Wishing you every success in the exciting opportunities ahead.
A cross-party group of over 50 MPs and peers has asked IPSO to investigate media coverage of Jason Arday The letter, organised by Labour MP Afzal Khan, says coverage "reached far beyond what can reasonably be perceived as conducive to the public interest in relation to his alleged plagiarism"

Professor Jason Arday's death has devasted millions of us across the country. He was relentlessly attacked for who he was and what he represented. Myself and 52 other Parliamentarians have written to the IPSO urging them to investigate the coverage of Professor Arday in the weeks before his death.
#Football belongs to us all, not just wealthy investors. From Slough Town FC, to school and #local teams, at the heart must be the grassroots #game. Building towards #Euro2028, let's keep football where it belongs: in the hands of #fans and #communities. www.sloughobserver.co.uk/news/2644093...
Blessed to pay respects at Harmandir Sahib (#GoldenTemple in #Amritsar), praying for continued strength to serve and #Sikh prayer of #SarbatDaBhala (betterment of all, regardless of gender, colour or creed).
Our #Defence Committee report highlights how case reviews of #Afghan Special Forces (who’d bravely helped us) overturned hundreds of wrongful refusals. For many, that correction came only after years spent in hiding, so #government must now help those we promised to #protect.
Kind of #Punjab Government Minister for Non-Resident Indian Affairs Dr Ravjot Singh to host our meeting in Chandigarh. Raised range of issues affecting diaspora Punjabis, such as justice for land disputes, political prisoners and extortion cases; more trade and direct air links.
Congratulations to students in #Slough and elsewhere getting their #A-level results today. Whether you're heading to #university, an #apprenticeship, work, or exploring other opportunities, remember that success comes in many forms. Keep striving for your goals!
We asked #Afghan allies to endanger themselves and stand with #Britain — we can’t now expect them to risk it all alone to reach #safety. The #government must explain how they’ll help those unable to self-relocate, or risk breaking #promises made to them. www.thetimes.com/uk/defence/a...
Our new #Defence Committee report is about #accountability: the government must keep #UK promises to #Afghan allies, who courageously put themselves in danger and helped #British troops against the #Taliban. They deserve #transparency and #justice. www.mirror.co.uk/news/politic...
#Slough Asian Baptist Church held their annual Grace of God Convention. Lovely to join them all again for a celebration of #faith, fellowship and #service; allowing me an opportunity to support our local #Christian community and thank them for everything they do for our town.
