It will be worse than this! Most websites will be forced to ask you to send your ID to a third party surveillance service, adding a credit card won't be enough for most. Bluesky asks for your *social security number* if you live in Texas now, due to this shit. Call in, and kill it.

This will be the US if the SCREEN Act passes. Call your Senators before August 5 and tell them that you oppose the SCREEN Act, KOSA, and the KIDS Act. Use the official lookup tool at www.senate.gov/senators/sen... to find yours by state.

The @mysteriumcon.bsky.social website's resource usage spiked in June for no reason. Was suddenly costing $100 in a month. Finally tracked it down to AI scraper bots. Turned on our host's (brand new 3 days ago) experimental AI bot blocker. Resource usage fell off a cliff from 50-60% CPU to 0.

Yanno, usually I'm on the side of cyclists. But I just saw someone claim that if an impromptu group bike ride is stretched out, they will block traffic on cross streets for 5+ minutes at a time, and somehow the drivers are the entitled ones for not being OK with this. wtf?

The main negative of working with fused glass is having to wait 12+ hours* for it to fire in the kiln 😅 *The temperature differential in the basement between winter and summer means the same firing takes 12 hours in winter but 16ish in summer, because cooling takes longer 😆

So apparently they don't give out real sleep study kits anymore. My partner went through a whole rigamarole to finally get approved for a sleep study. We pickup the kit, only to find it's literally just a variable size smart ring. It monitors blood oxygen and pulse and nothing else.

On Star Trek - what happens if you stick your hand in the replicator while it's replicating? And does it depend on what kind of replicator? Do Federation ones have safety measures, while Ferengi ones require a premium subscription for safety features? 🤔

It is absolutely fascinating to me to watch people drop thousands of dollars on glass fusing supplies/a kiln, having done 0 research. Then they come to Facebook with either a) "I just bought this kiln, tell me what to do!" or, b) "everything I do cracks but I've never done any research. Fix it."

You ever have something that was a huge part of your life for a long time, and then one day you just realize... you don't care anymore? Like, you have fond feelings about what it was to you, but you see other people getting excited about it and just think, "meh?" It's a weird feeling 🤔😶

@vered.bsky.social and I will be taking part in the Somerville Yart Sale this year! I'll have glass mushrooms, frogs, maybe some other small bits and bobs. Vered will have beaded/wire-work jewelry, and probably some little beaded froggos! Come say 'hi' if you're in the area 😊🐸

They are green on the front with 5 different options for cute frogs next to the text (Boggy the Froggy, a witch hat frog with a wand, a frog popping out of a pumpkin, a frog holding a leaf like an umbrella, and a frog on a lily pad. The back is purple with a line art doodle of a frog sticking a long tongue out to catch a fly. He has a curly mustache.

Harvard Pilgrim: "You know that med you've been taking for 15 years that's really cheap? Well, we're not covering it anymore. Have fun buying the OTC version at [literally] 10 times the price!" I'm so tired.

The first tattoo went so well, that I just decided to say fuck it and get the tattoo I've wanted since I was in college. It's a little reminder to be kind 🦋

Three small butterflies in a triangle pattern on my inner wrist. Pink wings, teal-ish bodies/antennae

It's wild how many people on this site still refuse to use alt text for their pictures. It takes 10 seconds to alt text most things! You can even set it to remind you when you post!

"That sounds like Lea Salonga, is this <song from Centaurworld>?" It was On My Own from Les Mis 😅 I think maybe I need to cut back on the Centaurworld album 🙃

Why is the Somerville Arts Council so afraid to use their rain dates? Tomorrow is supposed to be intermittent storms and bad wildfire smoke, while Sunday is clear skies, clear air...

If your air is visibly poison, please consider wearing an n95 or better. The collapse of healthcare and rise of fascism is a real bad time to get sick or disabled. Please also consider donating to mask blocs in affected areas so more people can access protection. Give/get mask mutual aid:

Took the T for the first time since 2020 yesterday to go to Sail Boston. People are so much worse now. Young woman on the train had a video call at full volume on her phone, while vaping. She full-on coughed just mouth open, no covering. Put her hand in her skit to scratch several times. Gross.

Nick GUTS and Floor is Lava are very similar shows with one key difference. In GUTS, you are rooting for the kids to do well. In Lava, you are rooting for the adults to fall in because they are all so annoying 😅

Does a lack of feedback count? I had a bad art teacher in college who just kept telling me, "I don't like it" "What should I do differently?" "I don't know, I just don't like it. Change it." The man somehow didn't understand the basics of giving constructive feedback.

If you see this, please tell me the worst/most baffling bit of creative feedback you've ever recieved. Mine is still the time somebody told me my aliens had names that were too alien. Not that they were unpronounceable, just that they didn't sound enough like human names.

I've really enjoyed Capsule pharmacy as an alternate to the shitty big stores. But now they put a bad chatbot in front of all customer support texts. Even replying to a human support agent's questions gets grabbed by the chatbot. Everything just keeps getting worse 🫤
