Went to WM on our vacation to pick up a $6 charging cable. Had to ask for assistance because it was locked in a case. Went a couple aisles over and they have RTXes & AMD processors (in paper boxes) on the shelf with those (easily bypassed) spider wires & 2TB M.2s (also in paper boxes) on peg hooks…

The Fun Pimps (and Behavior?) just don't know how to ride a wave of positive feedback. 3.0 had reviews climbing back up then they had to go and harass a content creator. I hope they either sincerely apologize & restore Josh or they go out of business. Either way, leadership needs changed. @bhvr.com

My favorite over the past 24 hours is the type of far-left guy who has his arms crossed over his chest, clearly pissed, and is like: "Well, they had BETTER choose someone just like Platner to replace him." Babe, that's not how this works. This ain't a restaurant. There is no menu present.

someone was explaining Chinese labor law on reddit the other day w/ this and I had to screenshot it because it just seems so totally unreal

The employees involved were full time employees. Under Chinese labour laws, employers can only terminate full time employees before the expiry of their employment contracts for four sets of reasons: (1) Gross misconduct; (2) Persistent inability incompetence in the job the employer was hired for despite repeated attempts for improvement; (3) Collective dismissal upon approval from the Ministry of Labour and the relevant trade union; and (4) Mutual agreement - i.e. the employee accepts an incentive in return for their resignation. Not included in this is the employer just one day deciding they don't need the employee anymore and unilaterally terminating the employee. The court would require that a company so adversely affected by disruption that it needs to start laying off employees submit for review with the Ministry of Labour, enter in formal restructuring, seek consultation with the trade unions, file a redundancy report They would then be obligated to attempt retraining of its current workforce, and if that failed then provide severance compensation. Additionally, long time employees, pregnant employees, and employees who are sole income earners for their families are also protected from dismissal.

A key reason people in China are more receptive to AI than in America is that the courts there have ruled that you can't just lay people off because Claude can now do research and write code. You need a better reason than that. In America, CEOs can't wait to get rid of "low value human capital".

@ec.europa.eu @who.int I don't know what orgs to tag, but please, other countries, sanction the hell out of the US. The downfall of our democracy will not slow until the oligarchs feel it in their wallets. Stop trading with the US. Ignore our reps. Cut us off because internal pressure isn't working.

I reported a user at the Bad Place and got a response. Not only did they allow a user with a name referring to Russ!an special forces, but they used the F word (gay slur) in their post. Also, Elno can’t even be bothered to have the response message updated to match the new block function reality.
