It's Union School season. Tenant Union Federation's organizing training, this year w 809 trainees from 131 cities across 39 states. Reno to Richmond, El Paso to Ann Arbor, tenants joined w properties ID'd, or ready for an assignment. At minimum, this means we organize 26,250 units by Sept :)

THE BEGINNING OF A NEW BEGINNING: Kentucky Tenant Union wins first tenant-bargained agreement in the South‼️ Yesterday two unions negotiated with their shared landlord and secured recognition, lease renewals, a 10-day grace period for rent, repairs schedule including mold remediation.

The first page of a press release detailing the agreement reached between Maple Grove Tenant Union, Ridgeway Park Tenant Union, and their landlord, Jason Ostro, who runs a Texas-based corporation. This is the first tenant-bargained agreement in the state of Kentucky, and it is the first in the south. This is also the first example of tenant collective bargaining in HUD properties in recent history. The release details the specific provisions won, including union recognition, a grace period for rent payments, and more.
