Yeah, this is really lovely. I think @thetrailhead.bsky.social mentions in the liner notes its like a post rock Bert Jansch. Kinda is in a way. It's hard to find stuff that's trying to open up new avenues & I really like that this album is adventurous in that way
Ry Cooder joining Pentangle? Peter Green playing on Bryter Layter? Sonic Youth covering Avocet? Rose Delta Rising can stand up to any such fanciful daydreams, but it adds up to much more ... aquariumdrunkard.com/2026/09/14/n...
A new mixtape release from Seasonal Work records records in Northampton MA. Its a combo standard music mixtape/audio collage. 90 minutes $12.00. Hand dubbed in super low edition. Spent almost as much time on this as i would an actual LP. Very proud indeed. seasonalworkrecords.com/products/tar...
The going rate on old stock hi bias 60 minute tapes is crazy Part of me wishes i hadnt gotten into this Tascam thing but it is really fun Does anyone make high quality 60 min hi bias currently?
Even though this article left off on of my fave ambient folk albums (The Dreamies "Auralgraphic Entertainment") its a great read. One that you can really find out about some excellent, obscure artists and some nice historical context. Thanks @thetonearm.com for posting it
“In November 1995, an NME review of Flying Saucer Attack’s Chorus mentioned the ‘ambient-folk-rulebook’ as though somebody, somewhere, had already written one. No explanation followed. The phrase was simply left there among the guitars.” Ambient Folk Before 1995 — The Rulebook That Never Existed:
Sometimes i wish there was a place i could vent a bit about my musical ups and downs. Making music on your own can get weird and confusing This isnt the place but it would be nice to have some therapeutic discussions from time to time
Happened upon this wild film that is notable for the animation but also the rather trippy soundtrack. I thought this might appeal to @johncoulthart.com but after searching feuilleton, he is already on the case Chris James - "After Beardsley" 1981 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hfof...

After listening to this, it seems to me that Daniel Ash of Bauhaus really had a lot of his sound rooted in the early Floyd/Syd style. Both are super idiosyncratic & use the guitar in a way that sets them apart. If you listen to "Dark Entries" you can really hear it youtube.com/watch?v=126y...

Just happened upon this. Seen clips in Joy Division documentaries but not the whole thing. "No City Fun was filmed by 20 year old Charles Salem. Based on Liz Naylor's article in Manchester City's City Fun fanzine, it features music from Unknown Pleasures" www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3Xr...

This year, I made my first album using only a 4 track Tascam rather than with a DAW. Now I'm considering making a record just using the sound on sound function on my reel to reel I can't decide if it's goofy or if it's going to be awesome pretending it's 1979
This came up in my shuffle & it reminded me how talented my friend John is. Known for his work as AV Moves, this has a jammy krautrocky kinda Neu vibe but isn't a throwback. Give it a listen & I hope you will find it enjoyable nerftoss.bandcamp.com/album/nerfto...

I never thought soccer would be the thing that made me see this so clearly, but I fear we are really done. Using MAGA logic to defend a position on a sport most of them know like zero about. "Other countries would do it" & "FIFA is corrupt anyway" are just lame. It's like trying to find more votes
Every lifelong football fan I've ever met is like "I think players are supposed to serve their suspension" and every adult convert is like "the Archon of Constantinople's epistle on the Pentacostine rites of the eucharist clearly states handballs are mandatory."
“Automatic” in the FIFA regs/code just means that there’s no need for additional process—i.e., an investigation or disciplinary proceeding—to determine the applicable sanction. It does not mean the sanction is unreviewable. It does not mean that Article 27 cannot be invoked to suspend the sanction.
Its driving me nuts that all these new converts to the game somehow think that because the call might have been bullshit that we can just withdraw the suspension FIFA's corruption made this WC hard for me. With how the Iranian team were treated and now this, it just has sealed it for me. ETTD

Listening to old school 80s rave mixes on my power walk Living la vida geriatrica
Getting a bootleg of a listening party might be a first for me
I was introduced to this on insta by Jed @ Little Axe in Portland. Described as "accidental progressive" & compared to Cocteau's, Grouper, & even Peter Gabriel. Not sure that's what I get but it got me listening & that was all it took. Just smitten. visitme.bandcamp.com/album/daystar

Getting a Disco Inferno styled sampled guitar sound. Amazing how one note can be processed and re-amped to do this

Gearing up to do a new record. For the 1st time ever, I'm gonna limit myself to just guitar, bass & drums. Less choice paralysis. Just putting out there to remind myself that this was the course I set sail on. Let's find out if limitations can produce positive results
