LLMS are like, imagine you built a robot that could cook and you fed it a billion cheeseburgers and now it could make a cheeseburger 75% of the time you asked for one, and these guys are out here like “let’s replace all chefs with the cheeseburger robot.”

I absolutely played with AI before I understood the environmental costs as well as how much of it was trained on stolen data. There is no personal convenience in the world that is worth destroying the planet or cheapening the value of the human mind for.

Before I found out the truth of AI machines, I tested them out. I thought it was creepy version of Siri and also redundant bc we already have things like Alexa and Siri to ask questions to (especially when I'm traveling).

One thing I haven't seen folks write about about Power Rangers Green is the fact that Mirella, Tommy's descendant, signs instead of speaking. @paulallor.bsky.social wanted to create a character who is noticeably neurodivergent-- Mirella can hear, but she uses ASL to talk to her family.

There’s always going to be SOME kid who is the smallest/developmentally behind, so I don’t mind the cutoff being where it is, but I do think kids born between September and December should be assessed as to whether they’re ready for 3K. Our kid was only 2 for the first half of their academic year!

This is something @teaberryblue.net and I have considered (read: worried about) pretty extensively, as our kid has a mid-December birthday. They're on the ball academically, but always the tiniest kid in their class and clearly a bit behind socially. gothamist.com/news/is-it-t...

The “best” thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that it’s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.

Going to public school in a wealthy area, I knew kids whose parents made well above the minimum income for our means-tested school lunch program who were constantly hungry because their wealthy parents withheld food. Kids as young as as 7 or 8 being subjected to absolutely cruel diets.

what it comes down to is this. everyone who attends a public school should get a free lunch. period. you cannot means test a child's hunger. if you try, sorry not sorry, you're doing eugenics. fix your fucking heart or die.
