It's all an extension of the larger narrative surrounding JP media in leftist spaces. That anime and manga is at least semi-affiliated with the online-right, and thus the goal of the culture war is to eliminate them. The fiction cannot just be fiction, it must be the battleground.

i love NSS as a concept. “yes we changed this character’s moveset for t6, but you can still access the t5 moveset if you wish”. i would’ve believed it’s motivated by the backlash against t4 jin if other characters in t6 (like bryan) didn’t have massive moveset reworks.

A while back there was some LGBT event held in Japan and all the discussion about it solely revolved around "the fattest greasyist neckbeard in ohaio is punching holes in his drywall over this". They're just as guilty as the right in not treating Japan like it's a real country with people in it.

someone else pointed out on twt & i do agree it’s annoying marin kitagawa is appropriated by the exact types of ppl who would hate her irl. the praise she & the show gets for being “more than just gooner trash” like marin herself isn’t a fan of “le problematic gooner media”.
