this trip was my first time to a gameworks, so naturally i looked around for any remaining sega theming imagine my surprise when i looked at the moulding above the doors and found that kage-maru, jacky bryant, and jeffry mcwild watch over the streets of downtown seattle to this day!

the gameworks exteriorkagemaru, obscured by branches, faux moulded into the concrete facade beside the doorjacky, looking very vf1jeffry, the same

forgive me but nintendo could announce fucking anything and it would pale into comparison with the fact that KARNOV is coming to arcade archives, i am slowly rotating in excitement!! data east forever baybee!!!!

When Karnov became too famous & expensive to hire, moviemakers would do anything to feature Karnov. Here he is on a poster in Sly Spy / Secret Agent, which is how the director of Robocop 2 got him to appear in their movie without paying him millions in appearance fees🤔😉

Corrupt officer Duffy in cinematic masterpiece Robocop 2, about to be blessed with a close up view of Karnov / get his head smashed through an arcade cab by a robotic policeman.

Before finding fame in the arcades, Karnov had a bit part in the terrible 1980 Jackie Chan movie The Big Brawl (殺手壕)

Arika's Mihara is Mihara-ing once more: apparently, he was quietly working on a home port of the long-out-of-service Druaga Online arcade game, but now that he's seen people have just got it running via emulation, he's taking his ball & going home (but admittedly might change his mind a la TGM)

this 1983 LOGiN feature on the making of Namco's massively influential arcade STG Xevious is not especially illuminating, but it does reflect an early attempt to cover the production of a game with the same seriousness afforded to film and animation https://shmuplations.com/makingofxevious/
