I’m in a conundrum. If I share all the ways I am growing my fine art career, people assume I’m no longer looking for work in animation. And if I post that I AM indeed looking for work, then people lose faith in my fine art career. This is not a zero-sum situation. My talent can span mediums!

Matt was probably one of the most outwardly outspoken, show creator supporters for the color is design campaign before that many people cared about it. He’s a real one.

Visual artists really need to come together and create some sort of PR campaign for themselves in the face of AI because I just witnessed an unreal level of cognitive dissonance when it comes to the acceptance that others have with taking work away from human artists. 🧵

Some people have asked if I’ve left the industry. I would say the industry left me. I still apply to gigs but it’s just been completely dry for 1.5 years. If people are going to pay for my paintings, matching my animation salary, then heck yeah, that’s what you’ll find me doing until things change.

I don’t know what it says about me or the industry, but some of the people most excited to hear about my independent art career have been animation studio heads.

My Uranus opposition consisted of Uranus pushing me out of a plane on a sky diving trip I didn’t ask to go on nor was trained for…and a part of me did hit the ground and died but the part of me that just barely survived

Started the year unemployed, looking for work in animation. Ended the year self-employed and being paid to watch an animation for inspiration in order to create a new, commissioned painting.
