Hot weather ✅ Clothes to dry ✅ A medieval gateway called Walmgate Bar built in the 12th century on which to dry your pants? ✅ Up until 1956, local residents lived in the watchman's quarters. When this watercolour was painted around 1820, a family called Brown lived in the Bar.

We are looking at a watercolour painting of a stone tower with its long stone barbican still attached. To one side is a brick built building - possibly cottages. On the top of the gatehouse is a line with washing drying on it.
