Canadian Trekkie, Pegasister, stage and historical costume maker, mother of Minty Root. She/her/hers. The original character I use as profile picture was designed for me by my son. Her name is Okaasan Mendingheart and she is a cute pegasus.

Just finished today my latest historical sewing project. A quilted waistcoat (jumps). It's entirely assembled, quilted & finished by hand (no sewing machine!). Made of 100 % cotton block print, 100 % cotton batting & 100 % linen lining. Sewn with linen thread & bound with cotton twill tape.

Had a wonderful surprise yesterday. A dear friend came to visit and ask me to be his stage costume maker for his upcoming musical project. An hommage to Ghost. The stage costumes are somptuous, it will be so fun to create similar models for my friend. And a great honour for me to have been chosen.

In the upcoming days, I will vicariously follow the activities of the HarmonyCon convention. Why? Because it's way more fun to see happy people, cute little ponies, vendor halls and panels than seeing political scandals and pictures of politicians. One needs all the happiness possible. 🦄

Work in progress! Started today a new 18th Century clothing project. A pair of jumps from around 1750. Made with block print cotton from India, a layer of cotton batting and a pure linen lining. It will be quilted and assembled by hand. Project might take a few months to be completed.

What I highly value about bronies conventions is that they make my feedline more positive for a couple of days! Everytime! Instead of seeing horrible political news, I see people smiling, drawings, plushies, crafts, pure joy and hope. Definitely, bronies make our planet a better place to live on.

The boyfriend always says he's "not" a Trekkie. He didn't know much about ST before knowing me. However... I was watching Lower Decks and suddenly he asks: Hey, how come they're in trouble again? Don't they have that thing that protects the ship from shocks? The static warp bubble? Yeah, that thing!

Ok. Further to a "report" I saw here on Bluesky about Star Trek, I'd like to point a few things. I'm a Trekkie. Since childhood. It is my favourite TV show. All of the series. I'm a woman. I cherish democracy, free speech and freedom. I am thankful beyond words everyday for being a Canadian.

Yesterday at the Québec ComicCon we had the wonderful surprise of discovering that Gates McFadden speaks an excellent French. She and John De Lancie delighted the crowd with filming anecdotes and facts. They were both kind and took time to answer questions from the crowd. A wonderful day...

Rewatching ST Discovery Season 3. Episode when Philippa Georgiou meets Carl, the Guardian of Forever, and crosses the threshold to the Mirror Universe. Carl makes me think a lot of Jenkins, in the Librarians. The language, manners and gestures. Maybe it comes with the profession of guarding forever.

Worked hard over the last days to sew a mid-18th Century corset, totally boned (86!!!). Made with a slightly modified JPRyan sewing pattern, partly sewn by machine and partly by hand. Made of linen, with buckram interlining. Made it with front lacing because chambermaids are pretty hard to find.

My son Minty brought me back a wonderful present from the Everfree convention. A sleeping mask featuring Fluttershy eyes, from the amazing boutique of artist Gleamy. What a beautiful mask! I love Fluttershy so much!!! Now, with the mask, I can give people "the stare", just like Fluttershy!

OMG! It's been a long time since I laughed outloud like this, until my ribcage hurted. Tonight's Strange New Worlds was hilarious. I don't care if it's canon or not, or if Gene Roddenberry would have approved the episode. It was funny like hell and I enjoyed it!!! Superb performance of the actors!

I watch Star Trek in English, with the English subtitles. It helps me follow the dialogue. Last week, I noticed that in Voyager, when the Doctor speaks, the person in charge of the subtitles identifies him as "Zimmerman". Just like in TNG, when O'Brien is already identified on the first episode.

I finished today a small 1830 bonnet project. Made of cotton lawn and cotton entredeux. Entirely sewn by hand (without any sewing machine). Pattern is #11 from Auntie Keebie's Caps. The shirring around the crown as well as the front ruffle were made using the traditional needle wrapping method.
