My sense is we’re heading back to Tory/Labour politics. I recall the excitable talk about the SDP ‘breaking the mould’ in the eighties - 30 MPs at its height, more than three times as many as Reform has now, some real intellects and no scandal - and still it all came to nothing.

Democracy must not be allowed to die under this liar, bully and cheat.
