if it isn't clear, I'm with the 18+ artists. don't think because the majority of my art is market friendly that it means I am. fuck censorship, fuck fascism, fuck puritanism. people should have the choice to decide what they want to see, not have the choice made for them.
I can't emphasize enough that whether someone ships something or not does not make them a good or bad person. Deciding to attack, harrass, cyberbully, and dox someone because they have a different interpretation or ship something you don't like; that makes you a bad person.

I'll say it again, Art is communication. "Create for yourself" really means "Create art that communicates who you are." And one sided communication feels terrible. Commenting on peoples art/creations can be scary, I get it. But COMMENT. COMMUNICATE. We want to hear it. I want to hear it.

I find myself having to read the article slowly as I'm experiencing genuine grief over the loss of dA, all the friends I made on it, and this period of my life. I realise the death of dA coincides with the time period I stopped considering myself an artist, and stopped feeling good about drawing.

There should be a Scholastic Book Fair for grown ups that comes to our jobs, and we skip PE or art class to go browse the goods. Jobs should also have PE and art class.
