What an absolute own goal. The boots theory is absolutely true for a lot of items. Tools, clothes, electronics, etc. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't say buy something that is the most expensive, but for a lot of things, the best long term value is rarely going to be the most inexpensive item.

I am trying to avoid this discourse because I was in the room during these discussions and it pisses me off, but people are considering tools we have today (rapid tests, kn95s, vaccines, antivirals, experience) in decisions that had to be made with no tools other than “leave room for Jesus”

The dumbest part is their requesting to dismiss without prejudice. In case they change their mind.
