Friends have told me that I'm chaotically neutral. Variety Streamer, Photographer, Tech Person. Host of Concerned Citizens of The World, live on Twitch every Friday! Proudly French 🇨🇦 🇵🇭 Business Inquiries: thefrenchcanuck@gmail.com

Today marks the 5th annivesary of my first ever stream on Twitch, and to celebrate the occasion, I shared my thoughts on how much I have grown, the people I've met (some of whom became some of my closest friends), and the adventures we've all shared together along the way.

A screenshot from TheFrenchCanuck's Poutine Village Discord server to his entire community highlighting his thoughts on celebrating 5 years on Twitch, shouting out the tremendous people he has met along the way, and the personal challenges that he has had to overcome as a content creator finding his way in a crowded space.

Message to fellow journalists (and anyone claiming to be one): do not “police-involved shooting” executions in broad daylight. Obfuscating language like that is completely journalistically unnecessary and, even worse, sanitizes reality. Words have meaning. Use the right ones.

Aaron Parnas writes: “BREAKING: Another ICE involved shooting just happened minutes ago in Minneapolis per someone I spoke to on the ground. Details are limited right now.”

“I watched your prime minister yesterday. He wasn’t so grateful,” Trump said today. “They should be grateful to us, Canada. Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, the next time you make your statements.” That feels like a threat. Bully behaviour.

This is a dangerous and irresponsible response. Cheering the illegal abduction of a foreign head of state and celebrating U.S. control over another country is wrong. Canada cannot pick & choose when international law applies. If the rules only matter when it’s convenient, they don’t protect anyone

This past week on Politically Factual, I talked about the history of the notwithstanding clause, how it came about, and its regular abuse by Conservative governments. Next week, we’re going to dig deep on Mark Carney and discuss the two biggest candidates in the federal NDP leadership race.

Heather’s entry into the NDP leadership race is, in my honest opinion, extremely exciting. I’m excited to hear more about where she intends to take the party, and how she can take on the Liberals and the Conservatives.

As leader, I will bring people together, rebuild trust with working families, and make sure the NDP is the party people know they can rely on again. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Jimmy Kimmel is a symptom of a huge problem: a concentrated media ecosystem beholden to corporate whims. Canadian media struggles with this too. Consider Global News' management making Ben Mulroney a top political host. It's a worryingly partisan decision, especially given what I just uncovered:

I've received many messages from concerned constituents over the past 24 hours, asking me about the standing ovation connected to Charlie Kirk in yesterday's session in the House of Commons. Please see my statement on the matter.

Over the past 24 hours, I’ve received many messages from constituents asking whether I stood for Monday’s ovation in the House of Commons connected to the murder of American podcaster Charlie Kirk. The answer is no, I did not stand. Neither did many of my Liberal colleagues.

Let me be clear: I am strongly opposed to political violence in all its forms. I am also strongly opposed to hate speech and discrimination, which unfortunately permeated Mr. Kirk’s work. Furthermore, his violent death in the United States has only led to escalating violent rhetoric here in Canada. We have seen intensified hate speech and threats, harassment campaigns stoked by public officials, and organized mobs trying to destroy the careers of fellow Canadians. The injustice of what befell him last week should not be used to excuse or ignore any of this.

Ignoring the harms that hate speech and harassment inflict on vulnerable communities means abandoning those who fear for their safety in the face of that rhetoric. I will not stand by while Canadians feel dehumanized by violent rhetoric, and threatened by the political movements and actors that wield it.

Oh trust me, we’re going to talk about this on tomorrow’s episode of Politically Factual. This is ludicrous because while we denounce political violence, it is unnecessary to give an ovation for someone who also spread hateful rhetoric.

Jesus Christ. A standing ovation — from Liberals too — for Charlie Kirk in the Canadian House of Commons. You can (and should) oppose political violence without doing all this, you know.

So first off, wow. Just wow. The amount of people who showed up to my stream last night, both current and new community members, was astounding. I have received so many compliments offline about how I ran everything last night and I have a few things that I’d like to share with you all. 🧵 1/8
