Obsolete and obscure hardware nerd. Music geek. Soldering = Zen. Ask me about the Casio Loopy and why it's actually an amazing piece of tech. 📺

Back to the grind - trying to figure out what games work from other PC98 images, and then compiling them all into a final image. Honestly, I just want to be done and move on to testing other systems for VCFMW. Also really want to work on the extra cool items for my gacha machine.

Monitor stuck on screen that shows "Memory 640KB + 30720KB OK".

After quite a bit of fighting with this PC-9821Xa12, I finally was able to play a game in glorious FM sound. Still have a bit of wrap up work to do, but definitely happy everything's working!

This little guy was taped on a ridge under the power supply. Had to pull most of the computer apart to get to it. 0.11 V It's getting replaced and relocated to a more accessible location in the morning.

It's the small things that make me smile. Now I have to decide between capturing an image of what's on this drive and then installing software manually to it, or grabbing a premade image.

NEC LCD screen with orange text コンピュータの電源を切る準備ができました - "The computer is ready to be turned off" in Japanese.

"I Want a Room in Loopy Town!" English version—playtesters wanted. Calling all #CasioLoopy heads! Do you love the Loopy? Do you want a room in Loopy Town? I have been working on an English translation of this early cozy life sim & would love for YOU to test it before release! Please DM for details.

I may be sore, bruised, and without much of a voice, but VCFMW was a lot of fun. Met so many people and was able to talk about so many different Japanese systems that I think it was worth it. And surprisingly I did not walk away with another computer 😂

I forgot to post up my VCFMW table setup yesterday. There were so many lovely folks to chat with and share my love of these systems with. The lead-up work for conventions is so stressful, but seeing so many folks connect with systems from Japan makes it all worthwhile.

Six systems set up on tables - Casio Loopy, NEC PC-9821, Fujitsu FM-NEW7, Sharp X68000, Sharp MZ-1500, and Panasonic A1 MSX2 - playing different games or running different software.
