If you support Palestine, remember Hamas is more unpopular there than Bibi is in Israel, and the majority supports two states, to be achieved by negotiations. And if you support Israel, ditto. Terrorism failed on 7.10; let negotiations succeed at effecting two states. www.pcpsr.org/en/node/1018

October 2026 Election Poll | PCPSR

Every time I go on the other place because of an interesting tweet, I start scrolling and immediately see some of the most awful, casual dehumanizing shit. Then I think back to when Elon tried to pull out of his buyout and Twitter sued him to force it and I just think it didn't have to be this way.

Sidebar: one of the highest-value things anybody could do for building code reform in America would be for an Ivy League or other equivalent university to snap up Mike Eriksen and all of his collaborators, to show other academics that research into building codes will be rewarded. Zoning reform...

Why are we still calling this man a "Christian nationalist" and not what he very obviously is by both his beliefs and his words which is a white supremacist? People remain confused about what Christian nationalism is, but white supremacy is not nearly as open to debate.

Preaching that God has assigned black people to "a civilizational station of subordination and dependence" due to the Curse of Ham, Christian nationalist pastor Dale Partridge calls for a "return to European Christian colonization of African nations." www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwat...

Maryland's planning process for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge buried transit options and boosted highways in an avalanche of models and suppositions so bad they're nearly parody. It needs to stop before it builds the biggest transport project in its history atop rotten data. ggwash.org/view/103837/...

Asphalt and inertia: The deeply flawed $16.4 billion Chesapeake Bay Bridge plan

This is not simply about the state’s passive acceptance of a decades-old, highways-first planning process. It is about how Maryland’s institutions, grinding through that process, doomed a transit alte...

Not to be That Guy, but the principal reason we use flex posts rather than curbs is storm water management, which means adding or changing a curb is like an order of magnitude more expensive. The video is really about shit garbage truck procurement, and nobody asking sanitation about clear widths.

US: flexpost is infrastructure Lyon: how about adding an edge on top of the curb, just to be extra sure nobody parks on the sidewalk?

It's notable also because the UAE is firmly in the US alliance system, so that 1-2 orders of magnitude fewer leftists are screaming about the genocide in Darfur than about the Gaza war is not about Campism. I've seen more people here blame Israel for RSF (for being allied to the UAE) than the UAE.

people associate tel aviv with murder and dubai with opulence, even though one of the two is 90% slaves and it isn't the former

Something I may never understand is the love of Putinism by European leftists. I *kind of* understand the love of leftist autocracies, but if you claim to be anti-racist and pro-LGBTQ+ rights, then Putinism (and Hamas, and the PRC) is the distillation of everything you claim to despise.

Using AI to generate more ideas of Marin County hearaldry, this time for San Anselmo. The red for Red Hill; the Y for its history as a junction; Sugarloaf (of course) or a book (for St. Anselm); the wavy lines for the creek; gold for Bald Hill; and a wreath of redwood and bay laurel or poppies.

A couple of ideas for a Marin County Coat of Arms. The tower is the Civic Center spire; the scalloping on the shield are intended to evoke the Civic Center's roof. The electric wheel is for both the Interurban and the mountain bike. The wreath is bay laurel. Art is AI; symbolism is mine.

People are fighting to save the Great Salt Lake. Good! California needs to do the same for Owens Lake and Mono Lake. A concerted effort to rebuild Tule Lake would be a major win for the state's natural world and the people (and peoples) who rely on them. www.nbcnews.com/science/envi...

The audacious plan to refill the Great Salt Lake

A "Herculean" goal to replenish the water in Utah's Great Salt Lake by the 2034 Olympics is gaining momentum and attracting strange bedfellows.
