“…a very unsavoury-looking girl…”

Today is Leif Erikson Day. The day commemorates the arrival of Erikson and the Norse in what is now Canada around 1000 years ago and the founding of the Norse settlement of L'Anse aux meadows in Newfoundland and Labrador. 🎨 Hans Dahl

A group of Viking warriors stands on a rocky coastline, with a leader holding an axe and shield in the foreground, pointing toward the sea. Other warriors with spears and shields are nearby, while longships sail in the background. The scene features a dramatic seascape with waves, distant mountains, and seagulls flying under a cloudy sky.

People ask me about Canada, and I just recite some lyrics to them. Way up north, we've got a name for rain and wind and fire. The rain is Tess, the fire's Joe and we call the wind Mariah. And the streets are paved with gold, and no one ever grows old in that frozen land called Canada!

One time, I got into a friend’s car and noticed they’d been playing a Mix-CD I burned in 1999. Apparently it had gotten mixed in with a bunch of other CDs at some point, which led to it being there, but nobody else knew I’d made it. Then I was told the album was pretty great. Anyway we got married.

For Banned Book Week 2026, I’m reading a vastly overlooked title, “CHOKE GASP! The best of 75 years of EC Comics.” I’d not read these comics before, and they’re definitely quite violent. Probably okay for older kids, but they spook the heck out of ME!

My partner just made a surprise mac ‘n’ cheese casserole seasoned with a light jalapeño sauce, and I want to get married at the nearest Vegas cathedral (where Joan Collins and Britney Spears got married. To different people.) The person who made this mac ‘n’ cheese truly loves me. I can taste it!

Put all my messages on a spike, please — I shan’t be leaving the house until I’ve finished reading this marvelous book! (“Take Part” wasn’t included because, apparently, it was filmed in Ottawa, not Toronto! Dang. I didn’t know Ottawa had such a stranglehold on Javax bottle puppetry!)

Clawdia is nocturnal…! She woke me up mewing this morning, and wouldn’t stop until I joined her in my office for pets. I fell asleep on the floor, so she woke me up by slapping me in the face with her claws extended. Wanted more pets. This went on for four hours. I adore this sweet l’il kitty cat!

She’s still quite skittish, but nowhere near as wild as she was those first few days! This little cat’s going to be fine. 💕 They said she’s 2, but there’s wayyy too much kitten left in her to be much older than 18 months. Her little mew is too delicate to be a full-fledged adult!

Oh dear… Clawdia has found my partner’s action figure collectibles, and she’s dragged the accessories all around the living room rug. I personally took the fall for yesterday’s Lego fiasco, but I don’t think my partner’s going to believe these are my bite marks all over everything… 😥

Did you know that Carlsbad Caverns has a SUBTERRANEAN CAFETERIA!? Since 1930!?!? I knew I’d find some reason to live…! 🥰🥰🥰 This is incredible news to me. I have to get to Carlsbad Caverns before I get too old to enjoy it!
