A Hobbyist Bear

Hobbyist, nerd, miniature painter, bear. I'm the guy who paints like it's still 1995. All LGTBQA+ people are safe and valid around me. Him/He.

Tonight's viewing, A Knight's War! I'd never heard of this movie until one of Mathew's Cobwebs Channel videos mentioned it (I recommend The Cobwebs Channel on YouTube, btw, if you're a horror fan). I bought it sight unseen and I'm going in blind because it looks like everything I want in a S&S film.

Ppster for the 2025 film A Knight's War

Fuck I love this movie. And how glorious is it that (spoilers for a 25 year old movie) plot about deeds and land ownership is orchestrated by a witch during a time of the witch trials, which were a thinly veiled plot by the church to steal people's land. Just, mwah, chef's kiss.

At this point, I can't help but look at Blizzard fans the same way people look at those domestic abuse victims on Cops. Like honey, nooooo. I know you have good memories about them, but they're still slapping you.

Tonight's viewing. Since Godzilla Minus Zero's trailer just came out, I was in the mood for some Toho monster action. I forgot the first half of this movie is basically a whacky kid's flick. Also, the quality of my copy is absolute ass. Might have to invest in those blu rays after all...

The Book of Alien by Paul Scanlon and Michael Gross (1979). When I spotted this on the new releases shelf in my local scifi & fantasy bookshop in 1979 I thought the heavens had opened and couldn’t have slammed down my hard earned newspaper delivery money any faster for a copy.

A while back, I found a sci-fi horror movie that was wholly unique in that it's the only film I've seen that is terrible ENTIRELY because of its music and sound editing. If you've seen it, you'll know exactly what I mean, but you probably never will, so let me explain 🧵

Fun fact to annoy the right people. Hunter Schaffer could be a mythologically correct Aphrodite in a Greek myth movie because one of her forms (also known as Aphroditus,) is a trans woman. Aphroditus shouldn't be mistaken for Hermaphroditus, Aphrodite's also trans child.
