These posts by @merlinogames.bsky.social highlight nicely the biggest reason I disliked 007 First Light. It has a huge focus on story but tells that story in a very dull way that also constantly disrupts the gameplay. It doesn't even matter if the story is good when the presentation is so poor.

I'm sad to report that so far I find 007 First Light pretty disappointing. It's way more cinematic than I was expecting, as in loads of cutscenes and walk and talk segments. When there is actual gameplay I'm generally enjoying it, but there's just not enough of it.

Pretty good stealth game here, one of the few that really goes for shadows and sounds like Thief. Lack of mid-mission saves was my biggest gripe when I played it some years ago, so now it's much easier to recommend.

Filcher just got its biggest update ever: mid-mission saves are now in. If it felt too hardcore before, now is the time to try it. It’s also 50% off right now. 🤏💎 store.steampowered.com/app/1355650/...

Keep an eye on this one, their previous game Dreams in The Witch House was a really cool and unique mix of point-and-click, survival, and open ended investigation. I spent an entire in game week just furiously self medicating and sleeping off rat bites, insanity, and flu, and it was great.

Happy to see that Ghost Master Resurrection is a good remaster. The most frustrating bugs have been fixed (people no longer get stuck on stairs), the few changes are improvements, and the new maps are pretty good too. I hope it finds its audience, it seemed to come out pretty quietly.

Sounds like 007 First Light is going to be like Hitman in regards to online requirements 🙄 "Full campaign will be playable offline********* *********Does not include most of everything"

I knew ad revenue on Twitch was bad but... What? These are my stats from the entire YEAR of 2025. Actually comical. Reminder to use adblock and whatever else it takes to get rid of ads, you're not supporting the streamer by watching them.

100% seriously, European leaders and Commission officials should plan on the basis that the US might do this to them too, about Greenland, about tech regulation, about “Christian values”, about “free speech”, whatever.

Finished all the Devil May Cry games so now I can have a hot take about how to rank them. In order: 3 4 DmC 1 5 2 I did like the series overall, and other than 2 all of them were at least pretty good. And even 2 wasn't a bad time as it was amusingly dumb and fortunately short.

I know this is a bit of a hot take and 20 years late, but Resident Evil 4 is pretty good. For a game in which you can't aim and move at the same time, the combat sure reminds me of Doom Eternal.

I was one of the other authors whose free games were used as a basis for this (by permission, under contract). Read the thread for details; I agree with every word Alan has written (both the positives about the game, and the negatives about Jonathan Blow).

So, “Order of the Sinking Star” by Thekla was just announced, which takes several small free games (two of which are mine) and gives them a major graphical upgrade and mashes up their rulesets. I haven’t been very involved but it’s a great concept and looks cool.
