Luis “Canena” Márquez was born 101 years ago today. He was an East-West All-Star as a youngster in the Negro Leagues, an AL/NL veteran, a minor-league standout, a late-career Mexican League star, and one of the greatest players in the history of the Puerto Rican Winter League.

The Rays are the 44th to team to fall behind 3-0 in a best-of-seven postseason series and just the 11th of those to avoid a sweep Of the 10 previous teams that forced a Game 5, four also forced a Game 6, two forced a Game 7 and just one (2004 Red Sox in ALCS) came all the way back to win the series

I feel like I’m not hearing nearly as many “generations of Milwaukee baseball fans have been waiting a half-century for a championship” stories like we heard for … every other team that ended a long World Series drought. Please point me to ‘em if you got ‘em.

Milwaukee Brewers master uniform lettering, 1993. This was the last design job I did via traditional methods, just as digital technology was beginning to really take hold. Hand drawn on tracing paper w/ pencil, I then inked the final art on vellum. I'll be posting more from the rebrand along the way

Out today on Prime and a couple theatres is CAPTURING BIGFOOT, a documentary about the 1967 Paterson-Gilmlin film. Besides conclusively showing the film was a hoax (they found the smoking gun), it expertly tells the incredible family/friend drama it created. One of the best docs I’ve ever seen.

Frame 352 with Bigfoot looking at the camera. The stabilized version always clearly looked like a guy in a suit to me but I was obsessed as a kid.

I cannot stress enough how helpful it is when you like a thing that someone created (like, say, a book they wrote) & you TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT. Word of mouth can be an incredible tool, yes, even if you don't think you're a fancy influencer with an incredible following. Your recommendations go places!

I was thrilled when the last playing era Venezuelan card/sticker I needed of Jose Bracho was posted on eBay at a superb price. I used the opportunity to pick up three more legends of Venezuelan baseball. My collecting has definitely focused on guys in the book lately. A bit about each:

Venezuelan stamps and cards of José Bracho, Urbano Lugo, Luis Peñalver, and Diego Seguí.
