Minneapolis resident, full of anxiety, kinda stupid but funny sometimes

1/ Someone nicked a load of MTG cards out of my car recently, and the most annoying thing is having to go through the process of filing a police report that they're not going to investigate just so I can show my insurance I'm taking the steps. Meanwhile I'm doing all the legwork of calling

My state fair hot take is possibly one of the best new foods I had was either the jerk chicken fries from Irie or peri peri bowl from Afro Deli and if you factor in the negative aspects of the absurd lines for things like the lumpia and UHK corndog, they were definitely my favorite.

I had Chipotle for the first time today in probably a couple years and was immediately reminded why I hadn't eaten it in several years. Horrendous burritos, no idea why my entire generation was so obsessed with them for so long.

I'm sorry, but Strib trying to pretend this won't be another Klobbering for Metro Surge lady is pretty funny. Sure, Amy isn't particularly interesting. Or inspiring. Her politics are usually pretty disappointing. But I seriously doubt MN is looking to hand someone as dangerous as Demuth the keys.

After years of landslide victories, Klobuchar faces a tougher political fight against Demuth

The governor’s race will be Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s toughest test in a statewide election, following a series of easy reelections to the U.S. Senate. Republicans see Lisa Demuth as their best shot at cap...

Platner was a terrible candidate from the jump, but the centrist Dems should be paying more attention to why their shit candidates lost to Nazi tattoo guy instead of acting like this is a win against the evil DSA. People aren't suddenly clamoring for milquetoast goobers because of one bad actor.

In case you are curious, the r/Minnesota subreddit is losing their mind and straight up blaming the genocide of the Dakota people on the Dakota people in response to... *Checks notes* Them having to take their dogs to one of 7 other off leash dog parks in Minneapolis.

Man, if Mpls dog owners wanted some sympathy for their stupid crusade, maybe acting like freaks, bringing signs actively mocking minority rights and going on the Minneapolis subreddit to claim that the burial grounds are a big conspiracy wasn't the way to get that?

Even as someone well outside the legal space, these charges seem absolutely bunk. My guess is the same as everyone else. Chilling effect prior to ramping up again. Probably realized that sending a bunch of Cletuses in from Kentucky in -40 was a bad idea, Minneapolis probably easier in the summer.

Here's an OCR-ed version. I'm probably part of the conspiracy now. You're welcome! www.documentcloud.org/documents/28...

"shut up you ugly fuck" is exactly the correct energy the Dems need to be bringing against the Republican party at this point which is why I'm sure in less than 13 hours they'll have fired the staffer that tweeted it.

An unsurprising but deeply unpleasant decision. The number of necessary-to-reform-but-functionally-impossible-to-pass-as-legislature court decisions may be insurmountable for America as a whole at this point. Citizens United. Dobbs. Callais. About a dozen others.

Second (and last) #SCOTUS ruling is the big one, Louisiana v. Callais. For a 6-3 majority (Rs v. Ds), Justice Alito purports to narrow the ability of states to draw majority-minority districts as a remedy for race-based vote dilution, but, per Kagan's dissent, comes pretty close to gutting the VRA:

Who told Jake to wear his goofy office outfit while running? "Make a whole show of putting on running shoes in the ad about running around Minneapolis, but don't put on any workout gear. You might look like one of the commoners." Awkward video, very apropos of Jake's entire term as mayor.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey@mayorjacobfrey.bsky.social · 6mo ago

Minneapolis residents have shown the world who we are — resilient, welcoming, and proud of this city. Now it’s time to come see it for yourself. Grab a meal by the lake, spend a day in our parks, explore our neighborhoods — and experience the spirit that makes Minneapolis special.

At the very top of the list of unnecessary spending: My taxes should not go to a daycare for an entire force of people that vocally complained when the people of Mpls asked them to stop being brutal dickheads, pepper sprayed protestors, and then openly gave up on their job like petulant children.

Mayor Frey is once again attempting to push through $38 million for an MPD “cop city” training center–on top of the nearly $100 million Minneapolis is already spending on building renovations for MPD. This money should instead be put into supporting our communities reeling from ICE's occupation.

Markwayne is a dumb thug, so it's not really a step up. But the Trump Administration just proves to once again be a giant Politician Crushing Machine that takes potential future Republican nominees and turns them into grist for the mill; the more we can push into the machine, the better.
