#SundayPixFavColours This flower looks like it is escaping from prison! It is an opium poppy, scientifically classified as Papaver somniferum. If it were red it would be the Wizard of Oz, somniferum from the Latin 'sleep-bringing'. I'm not sure that one would do the job...

Today I learned that baby cranes are called "colts" because their legs are so long and they can run around like idiots shortly after hatching. This is delightful, I enjoy knowing this.

#SundayPixFavColours This was one of the many birds on the bird tree that I had. It started as a Christmas decoration, but I ended up keeping it all year round as the birds did not feel Christmassy. Except for the partridge (not really in a pear tree).

#SundayPixFavColours I love that it at our old place the soil was the right type, hydrangeas change colour according to soil type, they are botanical litmus papers! Acidic soil (pH 5.5 or lower) blue, alkaline soil (pH 6.5 or higher) pink, neutral soil (pH 5.5 to 6.5) a mix of pink and blue
