#SundayPixFavColours This flower looks like it is escaping from prison! It is an opium poppy, scientifically classified as Papaver somniferum. If it were red it would be the Wizard of Oz, somniferum from the Latin 'sleep-bringing'. I'm not sure that one would do the job...

The image shows a blooming Opium poppy, growing out from between stunned fence posts.

Today I learned that baby cranes are called "colts" because their legs are so long and they can run around like idiots shortly after hatching. This is delightful, I enjoy knowing this.

photo of two sandhill crane colts that are about 50% leg and 50% neck and head and taking some big steppies.

#SundayPixFavColours I love that it at our old place the soil was the right type, hydrangeas change colour according to soil type, they are botanical litmus papers! Acidic soil (pH 5.5 or lower) blue, alkaline soil (pH 6.5 or higher) pink, neutral soil (pH 5.5 to 6.5) a mix of pink and blue

The image shows a vibrant pink mophead Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla), a popular deciduous garden shrub known for its large, rounded flower heads.

#SundayPixMagic Remember the childhood excitement of bonfire night. Staying up past bedtime to watch Daddy carefully setting the fireworks and then at the end being allowed a sparkler. The picture shows a birthday sparkler. Still magical even as an adult.

This image displays a lit handheld sparkler throwing off bright, glowing sparks at night.

#SundayPixMagic Ready for a card trick? I always think of the card throwing scene in the movie Now You See Me, Dave Franco famously learned and perfected the art of card throwing for his role as the illusionist and card-thrower Jack Wilder in the heist thriller movie franchise.

This is a set of miniature playing cards, specifically featuring the joker card
