BBC business correspondent - tip-offs always welcome, whistleblowers listened to. Likes cars, bikes and mountains.
Trains seem remarkably empty this morning. No idea why…
I didn’t know Dame Penelope Keith, but I did deliver her newspapers in the late 1980s, At Christmas she gave me a £20 tip, which was a LOT of money for an impoverished 14 year old. She also drove a ratty blue Ferrari Dino (I think). Classy and cool. RIP!
Possibly the most effective parking enforcement method I have seen

The European Commission says the EU’s new digital border system is “working very well”, despite passengers facing delays of 2-3 hours at some airports. It says there are “a few member states where technical issues have been detected”.
I don’t see why coaches aren’t lining up to manage #Spurs at the moment. It has to be the ultimate challenge, Surely? Sort out that sorry mess, and you really are No1! Come on, Pep…!
The billionaires and world leaders at Davos traditionally like to think they’re masters of the universe. But right now, they’re on permanent tenterhooks over what might appear on Truth Social overnight.
On the one occasion I went to Davos -to interview a billionaire, like you do - I stayed in Zurich and drove up. Cheap hotel (by 🇨🇭standards) and little traffic. Tbh, they *could* hold the whole shindig there…https://www.ft.com/content/da52a13e-98ff-4df5-9122-f80abd43ebe7

Jerome Powell’s statement is extraordinary. Central bankers are meant to be professionally dull. But his references to political pressure and intimidation are anything but. Ramping up the Trump/Fed row
OK, I know the #F1 movie made zillions at the box office, but it was still an absolute stack of steaming horse manure. Plot? Who needs it? Characterisation? Nah, just phone it in, Brad. Nice footage of cars though.
All tribalism aside, I think any of the contenders today would have been a worthy #F1 world champ. I’m glad Norris did it though - too many people seemed keen to write him off mid-season. He’s earned it!
Very pleased to have won Business Writer of the Year at the Guild of Motoring Writers’ awards last night…many thanks to the Guild and the judges. Congrats to all the other winners!
Been watching a lot of #Ozark recently, and I think the moral is: if your marriage is under strain, don’t try to fix it by money-laundering for a bloodthirsty drugs cartel. It’s not a good idea.
Hello folks. I’m looking for people who own and love SUVs for an article I’m writing. If you have an X5, a Discovery, an XC or anything on the large side, please get in touch! 1/2
Very sad news. Quentin Wilson, former #TopGear and 5th Gear presenter turned motoring and EV campaigner, has died aged 68 after a short illness.
A fantastic piece of reporting, brilliantly illustrated data, thorough, neutral analysis, transparent data collection… and frightening conclusions. Well done @skynewsrss.bsky.social for putting in long miles on this one

A piece I’ve wanted to write for a while. Jas Bains’ story is remarkable. He blew the whistle on a major fraud. Prosecutors decided he had no case to answer. Yet he was left fighting a huge lawsuit… www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Thank you to everyone who tuned in to #wakeuptomoney this morning! It’s a privilege to have an hour of your time. Worth the early start.

Thoroughly enjoyed having a chat with @felicityhannah.bsky.social about Jaguar Land Rover on #wakeuptomoney this morning. Though 05.15 is way too early and should not be allowed to exist.
