Not sure if I have the discipline but gonna attempt to post something Some Like It Hot related every (most) days in the run up to publication of Nobody’s Perfect: The Making of Some Like It Hot at the end of August. It’s been a real labour of love and appreciate any support you can give the project!

Front and spine of the book. Shows my name and title layered over a black and white image of the main cast in costume playing instruments. The photo is shot from above and gives the impression we are kind of spying on them

I am excited to be a part of Royal Oak Pride's Queer Lit Panel on Saturday the 25th at 3:00pm at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, an exciting discussion with three incredible authors: Lisa Peers, Rose Bousamra, and Caroline Huntoon! I hope you’ll join us for the panel and the book signing right after.

Author photosoff the four participating panelists. Details in post.Peter Marra (all pronouns) is Assistant Professor of Teaching in English and Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Wayne State University. He helped develop the university’s Queer Studies minor and designed the curriculum for its foundation course, Intro to Queer Studies. His first book, Queer Slashers, argues the queer lineage and queer function of the U.S. slasher film. Additional work appears in REDEN, Film Criticism, Bright Lights Film Journal, and the edited collections Recovering 1940s Horror Cinema, ReFocus: The Films of William Castle, and Final Girls, Feminism, and Popular Culture.

Whilst logging Heartstopper Forever on Letterboxd, I learned its director has a multifaceted career that includes a charming early stint directing gay porn. Titles include Dr. Jerkoff and Mr. Hard and The Hole, a parody of The Ring about a tape that turns you gay after seven days.

I'll be at Royal Oak Pride with Sidetrack Bookshop as part of a panel of queer authors. Saturday July 25th at 3:00 pm on the Farmer's Market Stage. You can buy a signed copy of Queer Slashers through a local queer-owned bookstore!
