Today’s the 36th anniversary of the ADA and maybe I’m naive, but I think we can live in a world where access doesn’t have to be legislated and a disabled person’s value isn’t determined by their productivity under capitalism and white disabled people aren’t centered and we care for each other.

In Atlanta last month, we asked local leaders what a #GoodLife means to them. Their answers were clear: Affordable and quality housing. Access to healthcare. Jobs with dignity. And above all: more time with family and less time stretched thin trying to make everything work. 📹

if this is not the country you know then you’ve never known this country how nice of her to let you sleep so long while so many people could never go to bed

if this is not the country you know
then you’ve never known this country
how nice of her to let you sleep so long
while so many people could never
go to bed
maybe now if you’re awake
all those dreams you had
with the safety of your comfort
can be what you fight to make real
so she can finally let the tired rest
and it can be your turn
to open your eyes

Minneapolis protester as he's being brutalized by feds: "You're gonna have to kill me! You're gonna have to kill me! I've done nothing wrong! My name is Matthew James! I'm a US citizen! You're gonna kill me! Is that what you want?" (You can hear his wife screaming)

This! Including masking up with high-quality N95 or better respirators during marches and rallies to protect yourself and your comrades. We can’t march or get much done if we are down with flu, long COVID, etc. Eugenics and ableism does not belong in progressive circles.

fascism will disabled a lot of people, particularly folks who are organizing and resisting. so what will it take for the left to actually care about disabled people?

It’s time for the world to Boycott, Divest and Sanction the U.S Avoid the Olympics, World Cup and other sporting events. There’s no reason to celebrate the 250 birthday of this fallen nation

Reminder that two weeks ago, the US government had $900 billion to give to the military to be able to do things like commit war crimes in Venezuela, but they cut precisely the same amount in healthcare for poor and disabled folks in July, and millions more people are losing healthcare as we speak.

what a gift it was to have @sfdirewolf.bsky.social as a friend in this life. her wisdom, her genuine care for her people, her thoughtfulness, her deep deep love for community. i am really not sure how the world keeps turning without her, but knowing her, she’ll figure out a way to keep us going.

shoutout to all the Dems who sold out the American people tonight, but a huge “fuck you” goes to Senator Fetterman for being an especially giant, unbreakable piece of shit from the dehydrated ass of the Democratic Party 🥰

Graphic with a light background and the New Disabled South logo in the top right corner. Large bold text reads: ‘Apply: Food Assistance for Disabled People in the South.’ Text below explains that due to the government shutdown, people in the South will not receive their November SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) payments. New Disabled South is offering one-time payments to help people impacted by not receiving SNAP — $100 for individuals and $250 for households with two or more people. It notes that funding is first-come, first-served and that SSI or Medicaid recipients should read a disclaimer before applying. A call-to-action at the bottom reads: ‘Apply at ndsdj.org/snaphelp.’ There are small illustrations of a grocery bag and a grocery list.

You actually don’t have to hand it to Donald Trump. You don’t have to give him credit for anything. He’s a horrible human being who has never known a day of suffering in his life. Nor does he care an ounce about the suffering of anybody else. Hope that helps.

you should be asking yourself why you want a cure for autism. be honest with yourself. what is it that makes you believe autism and autistic people should not exist. and side note: tylenol does not cause autism

Over the last 5+ years, the COVID-fighting “toolkit” should’ve expanded, not narrowed. Now, RFK Jr's attacks on the COVID vaccines throw into harsh relief the reality that we only have one "tool" left. Where is the institutional mitigation? My latest: www.thegauntlet.news/p/with-rfks-...

With RFK's Attacks on the COVID Vaccine It's Official: We Don't Have the Tools

RFK's moves to limit access to the COVID vaccine are the latest in a long line of moves that shrank- rather than expanded- the size of the so-called anti-COVID "toolbox"

I don’t have much to say about the Georgia political news except this: a lot of y’all expected near perfection out of a Black woman but seem to give every bit of grace and a pair of wide open arms to a white man who was an active part of so much harm in our state. Maybe you should think about why 🤗
