My local council has been trying to buy a completely empty shopping center that's in the middle of the high street for years, but the owner refuses to sell because he makes more from having this functionally abandoned building on his property portfolio than the council could ever afford to give.

One thing I remember from my time as a councillor is how many people believe the council owns the high street/main shopping area and that it actively chooses which shops go into it.

Watching "Superman" (1978) and honestly, the thing that makes this the best Superman film is that you could cut Lex Luthor entirely and it'd still be a great film. It doesn't actually need a plot because it makes watching Superman stuff feel that satisfying.

My algorithm thinks I'm a female small business owner who speaks Spanish, Chinese and Punjabi. We really need to mainstream the fact that the algorithms which run our online lives are not just unhealthy, they aren't actually fit for their own purposes and do not work properly.

The algorithm thinks I’m a London Muslim with a New York flat who wants to try mushroom beer at a running rave (to comfort me for my disappointming and badly lit sales career).

A recent trend in film reporting is that any blockbuster of sufficient size will only be discussed by media outlets trying to lead the backlash against it. Last year was "Superman", this year it's "The Odyssey". We're really just not meant to enjoy things anymore.

So Nolan's "The Odyssey" is about watching videos of the Palestine genocide and falling into despair. (I mean, not specifically that, but it is a story about realising that society is in decline after witnessing a massacre that you're culpable in, and whose final moral is "history repeats itself".)

I'm going to watch Top of the Pops on BBC4. Ah, it's the one from the week that Former Prince Andrew married Fergie. Shame he's a nonce but there shouldn't be anything too scary in theJESUS WEPT WHAT IS THIS
