The larger non specialized/technical user base is already using OAuth. It’s your early/technical adopters that you are experiencing friction with. I really disagree with the framing of this as a problem with OAuth and not app passwords

The twexit debacle is the reason we have not implemented logging in until now. It's always been in the plans to do. With OAuth, we feel comfortable having users log in at this point.

Part of the reason people started using Clearsky in the first place was because of the failures of Twexit.nl to secure people's data. After the Twexit scandal, Clearsky filled the same niche mostly by providing the same infos but without requiring log-in credentials.

We appreciate all the feedback and we are committed to best practices, and developing a great services for everyone. I'm excited for all the new things that are coming next. #Clearsky

We are committed to the principle of least privilege. In light of the recent information and discussion, once the Bluesky documentation and implementation is complete for OAuth permissions, we will change to the appropriate least permissive set of permissions. Stay tuned. #Clearsky
