We're fast approaching that time where my day-to-day lived experience with the Urban Heat Island Effect is "I don't like going to the suburbs; it's too cold"

Second time in as many weeks I've saved a Guardmember from obliviously walking straight into traffic. (this time the issue was that their own bus was blocking the sightlines as they decided to cross midblock directly in front of their bus)

Very confused by this concrete buffer installed into the middle of the crosswalk & left-turn lane from WV Ave onto FL Ave NE.

Six months have passed since the #ArtemisII mission and NASA has just released the reentry video from the Orion capsule! Here is a timelapse of the reentry, but be sure to check out the realtime version linked below! 🔭🧪

What is the IceCube neutrino observatory? Neutrinos are elusive particles that rarely interact, but can create flashes of light when they do. Most neutrino detectors are giant water tanks surrounded by light detectors. IceCube is kilometer-long strings of detectors embedded in the Antarctic ice.

I've long used "corgies" much like I use "cul-de-sacs", but now that I've learned that the etymological plural is "corgwyn" I am definitely adopting that because I love it

I don't think the dude with the Don't Tread On Me tags replacing his warn-bald tire appreciated it when I quipped "no tread on me amirite"

I continue to wonder how they'll fit this in... Best I can come up with is where they remove all parking & convert 1 lane in each direction into dedicated left-turn lanes. The buffers along the typicals could potentially be eliminated to retain 1 lane of parking.

Here’s what the RFK Master Plan says about the new Gold Line. I think I read elsewhere the plan was 3 minute headways on gamedays (20 busses an hour), 5-7 other times, but anyone else have details? What’s the current headways on the D20 and D2X?

Park(ing) Day has already been overly bureaucratic for a long time, but with only five locations it's feeling a bit forgotten this year.

All these recently sheared off thick branches are a good way to learn that the living part of a tree is actually just a thin ring just underneath the surface. The rest is basically dead.

For how much value there is in the homes on Cap Hill it's wild how almost every home looks like it's been decorated either by Moths who care not for decor & only need bright white light Or great-grandmothers living in a deeply piled collection of memories
