Similarly, liberal (English) anglicans who see belief in God as optional, and who forget that our beliefs about God also shape our beliefs about what it means to be a nation. No shared theology --> no shared political theology --> national questions are difficult to engage with as a church.
Reflecting that when liberal Quakers see belief in God as optional, we forget that our beliefs about God also shape our beliefs about what it means to be human. No shared theology means no shared theological anthropology. Which makes many ethical questions difficult to engage with as a community.
The passion flower has decided to slip the surly bonds of earth and punch the face of God. It is the gardening equivalent of an overstimulated toddler refusing to go to bed.
Brought it with me for the office, but might as well get the benefit on the journey!
[Goes and beats egg whites] Though my meringues tend to end up a giant blob that taste great... but look like a cow pat.
Nothings says "Summer" better than a stack of freshly baked meringues
I mean... this was definitely an aspect of my life in community.
#OtD 29 Jul 1962 fascist Oswald Mosley tried to march with the Union Movement in Manchester, UK. However, he was attacked by anti-fascists and had to be rescued by police. A Mosley speech later was drowned out by a crowd of anti-fascists. More info: www.patreon.com/posts/e37b-6...
Rachel’s prints are FABULOUS, depicting the disabled Christ. I commend them highly. ⚓️✝️
Want to learn how to make the lino print images in my 'Seeking the Disabled Christ' Exhibition, and make some of your own design to take home? Come to the Lino Printing Workshop with me Leicester Cathedral on Wednesday 5th August 10.30am -1.30 pm.
Marching in big pride means passing crowds of people cheering at you. Marching in trans+ pride meant generally confused, occasionally frowny onlookers. So much joy, solidarity and resolve among those marching though.
Wow London trans pride was great! I'd love to learn more about it. Time to check my favourite news source, the trustworthy and unbiased BBC
After weeks of complaining about the #heatwave a summer cold was not the answer to prayer I had in mind.

This is an unhinged reading from Peterson - and I'd note that the Gospel text is insistent that Judas is motivated not by genuine concern for the poor, but by greed (he has his hand in the common purse). Tom's also right that the brazen serpent is from a completely different story to that of Cain.
Judas wasn't "suicidally empathic" in the least; he was a liar and a thief as scripture clearly says. His ultimate sin was despair. What do Cain and Abel have to do with the brazen serpent? Why does any Christian (or Jew or atheist or anyone else for that matter) take Jordan B. Peterson seriously?
The fragility of UK constitutional norms are demonstrated by the ease with which the role of HM’s Hot Podium Guy can be dispensed with by executive fiat.
SO INFODUMPING IS A TERM USED TO DESCRIBE THE NATURAL WAY THAT AUTISTIC PEOPLE, COMMUNCATE, WE DON'T GO BACK AND FORTH RAPIDLY LIKE ALLISTIC PEOPLE, AS IN NON-AUTISTIC PEOPLE. WE TEND TO SHARE INFORMATION IN RELATIVELY UNINTERRUPTED STREAMS. IT IS WIDELY ACCEPTED AS A PRIMARY AUTISTIC LOVE LANGUAGE
My phone is now suggesting I experience a ‘new personal intelligence system’, I thought I already had one of those 🧠
A gentle reminder that there is in fact not really such a thing as “the seal of the confessional” in English law. And so the question for the Church of England at the moment is not whether we abolish, but whether we introduce it. The Ecclesiastical Law Soc has done superb research into the issue. ⚓️✝️
Well done +Nick Chamberlain (Bishop of Grantham) for raising the point that the UK is becoming increasingly hostile to LGBTQ people and that we are backsliding badly. We need to move beyond polarisation, stop hiding behind process, and show compassion and solidarity. #GeneralSynod
… House of Bishops, but it helps. … Synodical Government Measure 1969, but it makes it more likely. Other responses welcome. ⚓️✝️

10/ And one more thing. I find it somewhat ironic that some of the same people who told us heat pumps don't work now demand we all install heat pumps in the form of air conditioning. Because that is what an air conditioner is: a heat pump running in one direction.
So not only are conversion practices not being banned, they are encouraged to be employed in school settings with children
It is not the place of clinicians to decide for you what your identity is and how you can express it. This is asserting total, complete control over the social lives of individuals on absolutely spurious "medical" grounds. And the fucking government are CODIFYING it.
I am fine with the church not "being younger". Old people are valuable. Many come to faith having lived a life. And financially, if your goal in "being younger" is financial stability, the young aren't the cash-cow they once were, as working young no longer have the cash-to-give they once did. ⚓️✝️
5 years in vows as a Third Order Franciscan. It’s been a joy and a privilege to follow Christ after the way of St Francis, and I thank God for the friends and family in the gospel God has given me. And because the GIF library is lacking, have a jesuit instead.

Count Binface and Lord Buckethead - the backstory.
Right. Okay. This requires some backstory. In 1984, a small, low budget film studio in North Carolina produced a parody of Star Wars, called Hyperspace. It was released in the U.K. as ‘Gremloids’. The main character, shown here, was Lord Buckethead.
Andrew Marr's interview with Count Binface is a thing of BEAUTY! www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTIE... "Are you going to fight a serious, issues-based campaign." "No. ... It's a heatwave. It's hard enough sitting here talking to you. Are you trying to kill me, Andrew?"

Frieren is amazing. We watched it and can agree. We felt seen.
Why didn't you guys tell me that Frieren is just about an autistic person having a midlife crisis?
