In my youth as an undergrad and an idiot, I was really good at interpretation but I thought that was another sign that most arts are complete nonsense. (Genius idea, me.) And I thought still lifes, nature paintings, and object-poems were the stupidest. I can go see those things! (Again, pure genius)

But anyway: he’s looking at a Grecian urn that represents a man chasing a woman, and if you keep in mind that he’s looking at the physical object in the poem, it makes more sense.
It is worth noting, incidentally, that Christian versions of *The Odyssey* were already being written in the Middle Ages (partly because the original version was unavailable). And, broadly speaking... this involved transforming Odysseus into a pseudo-Jesus who resists women.
Others can say what they prefer, but LUX is absolutely transcendent, great intro. I’ve been a fan of hers since “El mal querer” (The Bad Loving), which combines flamenco with modern sounds and arrangements. She’s gorgeous and talented but also just a massive nerd. Her degree is in *musicology.*

I have - written a book (this was during Trump I) - written an essay - essay was translated into French - written a full article And so I can say: don’t come for my friend, dude. Europeans also have problems and people can say it. Problems are bad. We should all be trying in ways we know how.

The single most useful part of LLMs after code work is being able to point them at a subject and say "explain this to me step by step like I'm simple" and then pushback and force them to cite each part until you actually understand the original piece.

I feel like Superman (2025) did this perfectly because the superhero randos are types of people: - hawk lady - jerk guy - smart one I don’t need to know more about them. And it’s really just the three.
