Genuinely think the UX designers the BNA engaged were being paid per extra click added to workflow. It's in every single corner of the interface now, including sorting that returns to default *EVERY SINGLE TIME* you tweak a filter.

New workflow: press save button, manually drag outline of article (which only works for a single column, obviously), figure out if you want a "workspace" or "collection", select it, name clipping, despair
Every dog walk is a litter pick. Been putting up @pawsonplastic.bsky.social posters in the wonderful Inch Park with Scotty and Brodie last night. Such a lovely place and litter was collected. The campaign is to encourage more people to bin their litter and to join a great cause.
In case any Edinburgh social history people are interested: I have an MSc student looking at bath- and wash-house usage statistics, and he's turned up a Carnegie report from 1918 with these photos of the Simon Square wash-house.

So lucky to get into the Kings Theatre for the first time since its 4 year refurbishment. It's looking beautiful. Quite lovely to see the plaque for Councillor Val Waller.

In 1990 they sponsored the white rose mosaic laid on Rose Street, and in 1991 donated 2 benches to the street

Frankenstein's opened as a Gothic-themed bar / club in Sept. 2000 by Billy Low, who also started Espionage. It is located in the former Elim Pentecostal Church (closed 1999), originally Martyr's Free. Both clubs copied ideas seen by Low in New York. The late Alasdair Darling MP was a noted objector.

An application to list Westfield Court has been denied by Historic Environment Scotland (HES), paving the way for the building's demolition. In a decision published on Thursday (JUL 30), HES said that the decision was made due to the council's ongoing plans to buy up flats in the building. Westfield Court, a multi-storey block of flats which has stood in Gorgie for over 70 years, has faced uncertainty over its future for months amid severe problems. While The City of Edinburgh Council is a minority owner, it remains as the factor of the building.

A tennis trophy won by Edinburgh-born Harold Mahony, the first Scottish-born Wimbledon winner 117 years before Sir Andy Murray, has fetched nearly £5,000 at auction. Mahony, who was born in Charlotte Square, won the silver rose bowl for winning the Cheltenham Lawn Tennis Tournament in June 1890. He lifted the "Residents Challenge Cup" first prize after beating Australian-born James Baldwin in four sets in the final. Mahony, who was 23 years old, made his Wimbledon debut the following month, going on to win the men's singles title six years later and set a precedent for a Scots-born player matched only by Murray in 2013.

The council say it remains impossible to move trams past the site of the Princes Street fire which took place in the early hours of the morning on 9 July. It is also impossible to understand why it is taking so long to get the city moving again on the eve of the Edinburgh festivals. Some pedestrians are being routed through Princes Street Gardens where they may not have otherwise ventured, but the knock on effect on businesses and people living further afield in Leith or Newhaven where they must now…
