A big thing I’ve learned the last couple years is to slow your information diet. We’re not meant to have everything in the world coming at us at once. Whatever doesn’t affect you directly shouldn’t take your time and energy.

Who needs social media when you can read Moby Dick?
Humph! in my poor, insignificant opinion, I regard this as queer.
Well-deserved. Muggsy Bogues is small in stature but a large part of what made the Charlotte Hornets iconic in the 90s. hornets.com/news/charlot...

The Social Reckoning is such a strange thing to make a movie about, mostly because there was no reckoning. In fact, I’m not sure anything really changed.
The tension between fighting the clankers and needing the clankers to look up how to do it
The irony of our age: I have nothing to say to the world. I have much to say to people.
Gimme one of these and I won't either.
I won't waste my time writing.

Ain’t gotta sell and drive down the price if you give it away.
Elon Musk said he would give every child in America one SpaceX share, following similar pledges by rivals including Anthropic and other high-profile tech names.
I have no delusions of changing sentiment on this, but if we’re being honest and not street teamers, the accurate term is neither AI or SI. We have slices of real intelligence gathered and ground into an amalgamation. It’s quasi intelligence (QI). Maybe useful, maybe not.
A nonfiction book written in, let’s say, the year 1795, is most likely still around in a library somewhere and every other work it referred to is probably accessible in some archive as well. A nonfiction book written in 2007 probably cites a bunch of urls that are dead or rotted beyond recognition.
People are praising the Panthers for being patient with Bryce Young and letting him develop. They gave up so much to get him there was no other choice. There was no Plan B.
What happens when I send a newsletter
Thou sayest the King grows mad, I’ll tell thee, friend, I am almost mad myself.
New newsletter this morning: Is AI the end for us all? Let the clankers chase each other. We can go fishing. tinkelenberg.com/posts/the-do...
The dolphin's smile
There's always another fish in the sea. Don't let the tech bros tell you otherwise.

You must forgive me for not writing for so long, but I just wanted to be on my own for a couple of years or so.
Thanks to everyone who came to the Charlotte Writers Club’s Best of Open Mic showcase this past weekend. It was great to perform for such an engaging crowd and soak in the work of other local writers. Writing is for humans.

Not your mother's CSS As with any time spent fiddling with CSS, I had a good time writing this!
Justice for CSS: in defense of the girliest programming language. Calling CSS easy or unserious should be tired by now. It can build holographic Pokémon cards and 3D-rendering engines, yet it’s still dismissed as decorative. www.wired.com/story/justic...
Such things may seem incredible; but, however wondrous, they are true.
North Carolina has a surprisingly rich film history, and my friend Jesse Kale has long amazed me with his knowledge and stories of the silver screen. If you're a movie buff, check out his new Substack. jessekale.substack.com/p/that-belon...

"And crawling on the planet's face, some insects called the human race. Lost in time, and lost in space. And meaning." — The Rocky Horror Picture Show One of my favorite lines of all time and a proper tribute to Tim Curry.
"Dad, what's that?" "Oh, it's the internet. We don't go there anymore."
There’s still beauty on the internet, you just gotta look in the alleys between the fancy storefronts.
