Israel has used human rights jargon and terms from IHL to provide a veneer of legality for its genocide in #Gaza. The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces are now adopting the same practice to perpetrate atrocities in #Sudan. My in-depth story for AJE. www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/5/...

My latest for @theglobeandmail.com, the Ethiopian army has repurposed a stadium in the country's Amhara region, as an artillery base to fire at rebel held villages. I documented the deaths of six civilians in two villages hit by shells in November. The 15 month old conflict rages on.

Ethiopian soccer stadium becomes artillery site as Amhara war persists

More than a dozen residents in Woldia said the city’s stadium has been converted into an Ethiopian army base where artillery guns indiscriminately fire at rebel-held villages many kilometres away
