Generally speaking, I think it's a bad idea to tell a joke in a narrative that exits the story, because you put all that work into getting your reader into the mood and setting the stage and hitting that flow and then you're just like "this story is fiction and here's a dated meme reference"

Love how we had this series of extremely contentious and contemptuous interactions with this website's higher ups where they pretty much told us to our face "Yeah we're using Al to code, you fucking peasant. Deal with it." immediately followed by a good month of very frequent outages on the website.
